I was wondering where you stayed when you had 5 or more people?

We have me, my husband, 12 year old son, 10 year old daughter, and we are going to bring my mother. We went in '07 with my mother and booked the Fort wilderness cabin. This was our first disney trip and it really wasn't like we were in Disney compared to our 2nd trip when we stayed at POP. Which we were not with my mother that trip.

So we are taking my mom this year again and I want to know where you stayed with 5 or more people? Good experience? Bad experience? Suggestions? If you have any pictures that would be great.

We also have our cousins coming, 2 adults, 3 children, (12,11,and 5) so we have to think about them in our trip as well. Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you:worship:

We loved the family suites. We are a family of 5 the kids are 9,7,5. The pullouts were comfortable. It was great having 2 bathrooms and the curtains across the sink area for changing.

If you're willing to stay offsite, I highly recommend Windsor Hills; great property 5 minutes to Disney. With 5 people you can rent a condo, townhouse or even a house.

I would highly suggest looking into renting DVC points and getting a one or two bedroom suite. There are five of us on our upcoming trip....we have a 2 bedroom villa, room enough for up to 9 people. The kids will have their own room and we'll have our own room.

we have stayed with our family of 6 in the FW cabins, also had a 2 bdrm at OKW, and the Poly. I really liked FW cabins the best, but we are outdoors people.. our 2nd choice was renting points and staying at OKW... It was so much room to spread out!

We have a family of 5 and have stayed at a number of places. Cheapest option is likely Port Orleans Riverside with a trundle bed. The 10yo might be ok sleeping on it, but not if they are a large kid. That leaves grandma sharing a bed with your 12yo. Next option is 2 rooms in a value, I would recommend Pop. Ask for your reservations to be linked and they will be able to get you connecting rooms. I like this option for price and space.

I have never stayed in the family suites at ASMusic but the microwave might be nice to have. The Coronado Springs also has suites but they are way too much money in my opinion.

We are DVC members and usually book a 1 or 2 bdr depending on the resort. This is a great option to save money on eating out and using the kitchen. But the price is much more unless you arrange to rent from a DVC member.

We will always stay in a house. Split the cost with my parents, for a 4 bedroom house with private pool. Savings in hotel bill paid for the van rental. Breakfast at home is nice too. Fast and cheap.

Forgot to mention, Emerald Island Resort is beautiful without being overpriced like a few other resorts in the area.

We stayed at POR in 07 and ASMusic Family Suite in 09. I preferred the family suite. When we travel it usually my DH, 2DD's and my mother. With the family suite, we had 2 bathrooms and the kitchen area, it was great! The kids really enjoyed the theming at ASMu. We booked bounceback for next year!

Might also consider some of the DVC Resorts...I saw the 1 bdrm and the 2 bdrms last week at Bay Lake Towers and they were awesome. Myself, I think staying onsite is the ONLY way to do Disney! I can't be bothered with the commuting back and forth to stay elsewhere.. and another big plus is being able to take advantage of the EMH at the Parks. Can't beat it..:confused3

In 2007 we put 5 in the wilderness Cabins (3 adults 2 kids). Was fine, but a little removed from the Disney feel. In Feb 2009 we simply booked 2 rooms as the POP (3 adults 2 kids). It was the buy 4 get 3 plus $200 gift card. (Yes we received 2 cards) Work very well.

You could squeeze everyone in to Port Orleans, but with Mom that close .... might be a problem. I'm putting 5 in there in November (2 adults 3 kids). Your cousins however could do fine there.

I know very little about DVC .... but that may be a place to look!

Hi there,
Have you considered a 1 br at Animal kingdom lodge. The rooms sleep 5 very comfortably. If you rent points from the dvc board I think you will be surprised. The main problem is you would not be able to get a package deal. We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside a number of times. 1Br at AKL is awesome!

I've stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside. The bed closest to the door had a pull-out. The room was cramped with the 5 of us but we didn't spend much time in the room! We got up early and came in late to take advantage of extra hours. We loved the POR though.
