Been a stressful morning. Dad was very down this morning, but it is the afternoon and he now seems a bit better. fluid in his lungs is still bad but pulmonary team said X-ray looks better so continuing with the lasix. Trying to avoid a procedure to eliminate the fluid. We were able to see him, one at a time. He was definitely doing better. He even ate some food. From this morning his spirits are better and am sure the visit helped. It’s 2 pm but my adulting for they day is done. I really need a nap.
Getting his lung tapped (thoracentesis) isn't a huge deal. A lot depends on where and why the fluid is there. Fluid from CHF is often dispersed throughout the lung tissue. Think of a sponge full of water. For a thoracentesis to be the most effective, it needs to be "around the lung" . Depending on how much fluid he had on board and for how long, it is quite possible to have both going on.However I do think, in my professional opinion which means little, they are going to have to drain his lung. They did another chest xray today and it was unchanged from yesterday.
