Where did you honeymoon? Was it budget?

We honeymooned in Niagara Falls, stayed at Michaels Inn on the Canadian side, then went to Toronto for a few days. It was a package deal from a travel agent, so we got a meal at the Skylon tower rotating restaurant, ride on the Maid of the Mist, a bus tour of the Niagara area, tour of Casa Loma, and dinner at the CN tower. Touristy, but fun.

We drove to Atlanta and stayed at the Glen Hotel. It was fabulous! The downstairs restaurant had beds that you laid in instead of tables. After being served 4 momosas in bed...

We only stayed two nights because we had a family trip to Disney planned later that month.

Don't tell ;) but I am planning a surprise trip back to the Glen hotel for our anniversary. My hunny doesn't know.

We are getting married in November and are going on a 4 night cruise. The cruise alone is less than $1000 for an outside room. We are planning on driving and stopping on the way there and back in Orlando and NOT going to Disney. We have a week long trip to Disney in May, and decided we would go to Universal and SeaWorld instead this time. We might have to sneak in just one day at the World though :thumbsup2

We just booked for our tenth anniversary "second honeymoon" The Blue House in Jamaica. My husband and I love the island and have been many times but wanted a different experience than the all inclusive mammoths that are everywhere on the island. We met a couple that had stayed there and they just couldn't say enough great things about it. It is a small B&B with only 5 rooms and the "cottage" (which is what we booked). You have the choice of doing a meal plan or not, and the couple we met, just raved about how the owners (a sister & brother) waited on you hand and foot, making tour plans, shopping etc. We cannot wait.

Hope it's okay to post their website:

The offer a room in the B&B, breakfast and dinner (most people are out and about) for 198.00 per night per couple - not too bad for an island get away.

We are planning our HM for this June to Sandals Ocho Rios!! We have an ocean view 1 bdrm with an ocean view booked. It also has conceirge and butler service!!! We also get a $250 spa credit!! Not really budget but they had a great deal and im really excited!!

We are getting married in March in Disney and staying for the week. We are staying on DVC points but we are getting the deluxe dining plan. We are calling that week our Mini-moon!!

We did an Apple Vacation to Aruba and had a blast. It was a charter from Saturday to Saturday. We left a week after the wedding and had a great time. There are deals out there, but would highly recommend Aruba.

4 nights ( had to open wedding gift cards to see how many nights we could stay)
Not tropical, but was August...
Estes Park Colorado
definitely budget concious
for sure under $1000 for the 4 nights... Including airfare, rental car and food
Beautiful scenery, goofed and went during the Coor's Bike-a-thon...lots of roads closed
Have not been back to CO since, but would like to one day.
Go with the tropics if you can :beach:

Hi!!!
Disney is of course best place for honeymoon . If you don't want to go there or visited earlier then you can contact to the travel agent tell them your budget & choices of places he can suggest you better . travel agent will suggest you according to your budget.
Best of luck & congratulations.

went to disney because we only had 5 days, I would recommend Turks and Caicos. Great beaches, food and very low key, not commercial at all.

DH surprised me with a trip to Maui. It was really a surprise, b/c we had talked about not having a lot of $$, and he really had a hard time leaving the business for more than a couple of days...I know he found some screaming deal for an amazing hotel, cashed in our frequent flyer points, etc...but the whole trip was incredible.:)

Thanks to the OP for making me remember...its been too long.

To save money and have a great trip go somewhere that is off season for when you get married. DH and I went to the carribbean in the summer. Saved a ton. Think about visiting the Grand Canyon in winter, etc.

Good Luck.

We planned to go to WDW for our honeymoon, but due to my husband's new job, we waited too long to book our flights and it ended up being out of our budget. I was so sad, but we wanted the job more than we wanted a honeymoon. Instead, we drove 10 hours to Disneyland. For the same price (or maybe less) we were able to go to Disneyland for a week and purchase the premium annual passes. We also stayed in probably a moderate equivalent as opposed to a value.

I was sad about not going to WDW, and my husband still hasn't been (we're finally going in April!). But we got to go to DLR several times the first year we were married (we moved 4 hours closer after we got back from the honeymoon).

I don't know how budgety our trip was, but we sure got the most bang for our buck. I love the AP discounts!

Went to Rangali Island in the Maldives. Definitley not budget (they even make you put down a $2,500 deposit on your hotel spending account when you arrive!), but the most relaxing vacation I've ever been on.

Though my favorite "budget" place is Paradise Island in the Bahamas. I say "budget" in quotes because it is extremely expensive to go during season, but quite affordable to go off-season (and "off season" means 80 degree weather in August!). The Atlantis resort offers great off-season packages, and airfare to Nassau is typically reasonable as all the major U.S. airlines and discount airlines fly there, so there is lots of competition. Going off-season you risk a hurricane and afternoon showers, but you also spend half the money.

We live in WI and after the wedding we went to Door County. It was off season, so it was pretty budget (we didn't have the time off of work nor the money left for a big trip). We stayed at a B&B and got a room bigger than our apartment at the time! The room had 2 fireplaces, a hot tub, etc.

It was cool weather (March) so we didn't spend a lot of time outdoors, but we ate at very nice restaurats and went to a museum and strolled through the antique shops. It was only for 1 /2 a week, but it was lovely.

Then, a year later we went to Germany (our REAL honeymoon trip) for 2 weeks. Even that was somewhat budget as we spent some time with friends there (so no hotel expense) and it was shortly after 9/11 so the flight was pretty cheap. The friend drove us all around too. Rothenburg, Wiesbaden, Heidelberg,Trier, Rudesheim and even into Strausbourg, France and to Luxemburg. So we had cheap transportation (we did pay him gas money and brought him presents we knew liked such as Levis Jeans and Ralph Lauren clothing).

(OK, it sounds like we used our friend, but in reality he had come to America for like 5 yrs straight and we always hauled him around further, to places like Chicago, Toronto & Washington DC ).:thumbsup2

As for tropical--I enjoyed Negril, Jamaica very much. We didn't do that trip on a budget though, but I am sure it could be done relatively inexpensively.Especially if you don't do an all inclusive resort and if you book charter airfare & don't go in the winter.

Its like Walt said... it all started with a Mouse. We stayed at CBR back in 1994. I know I don't need to do the hard sell with this crowd, right ?

WDW provided fun in the form of amusement parks and water slides. I remember strolling along the walkways at CBR and having a very romantic dinner at the Coral Reef. A great time was had by all and we now share that special place with ds6.

DH & I had a Disneymoon :)

9 nights at WDW & 5 nights at Universal

We had an amazing time and did our very best to make it as "budget" as possible, but we decided this is our only honeymoon so we had a couple splurges ;)

We didnt Honeymoon... :( Kinda regret it as hubs and I never got to go on that romantic trip... but now we have the opporunity to do it now as we are older and have more $$$ to spend on it... if we can bare to leave our daughter for a few days... LOL

We were dirt broke when we got married and had paid for our own wedding so we ended up staying in a condo on Lake Delton in Wisconsin Dells. It was actually a very nice honeymoon.

I had my dream hooneymoon all planned out, fly to LA nd spend a few days there, then rent a Mustang convertible and drive the PCH to Sn Francsco , spend a few days there and then fly home.

Then DD came along.....so......

we spent a week at a time share in the Poconos. I think it was a blessing in siguise since DH got the flu on day 3 and spent the rest of the week in bed, alone..since he was sweating and cold.

We used the money that we saved on the honeymoon for the downpayment on our first house.

Amazing how a baby changes your priorities.

We went to WDW on our honeymoon.

We stayed at Dixie Landings

Us too! We had the "Food N Fun" plan and it was a blast. We were married in October and waited until December though to see all the decorations. It was 1996 so the castle cake was up:)
