Where did Thanksgiving go?

Our community had a Christmas walk today! I couldn't believe it. I was taking DD to a friends house and drove through the downtown area, and who did I see walking the sidewalk....Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas, but I never hear anyone complain that time is moving too slow.......As we get older, things move way too fast. The roadside tree vendors are already set up for goodness sake! I wonder how long ago those trees were cut down? Our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. That gives us plenty of time to enjoy it. Pretty soon there won't even be a Thanksgiving celebration. I guess the turkeys will be happy about that! Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

i know. thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and i hate how christmas keeps encroaching on it every year.

This is one of the reasons we don't do any Christmas decorating till after Thanksgiving.

This is one of my pet peeves. It seems we can't wait to get past all that silly thankfulness and get down to the good stuff--presents! :furious: Shop 'til you drop or at least until you max out your credit cards. I love the fact that Thanksgiving is not commercial, that it's more about good feelings and good family. I hope Hallmark never succeeds in making it a present-giving holiday. I refuse to even consider Christmas until Thanksgiving weekend, when we put up the tree. Let me have one holiday at a time, please :confused3

My husband is even in on it! He suggested that I might want to start putting up some Christmas decorations today. What?!?!!!

I agree with you! I think Christmas is introduced too early every year and would rather let Thanksgiving come first, THEN Christmas!! We never put the tree/decorations up until the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving. Even then the stuff is up for 5-6 weeks that way, and by the time we take everything down after the first of the year I'm ready for it to go, and to get the house "back to normal." I'm even tired of Christmas music by that time too.

That said, I'm REALLY looking forward to Friday and Saturday! I took both days off from work. I always hate it when I'm knee-deep in decorations and then have to stop to get ready for work, so decided to take a couple days off so I could get the house decorated.

Thank goodness you noticed it too! :)

For us Thanksgiving is important! It is a gathering of friends and family.. an odd gathering tho it may be ;)

The stores have gone from Halloween straight to Christmas... hard to find decorations for Thanksgiving anywhere.

So for those of us that appreciate Thanksgiving for all that it is worth......

Happy Thanksgiving!!
