Where could we dine at this point? (for mid-Dec)

We just returned from Disney and on kind of a whim we decided to return for MVMCP. We are probably staying off-property due to no availability. We will be there Dec. 11-14.

I need to look for dinner reservations for that Thursday and Saturday. I was going to try for 1900 Park Fare, Ohana, or Chef Mickey's, but after reading the dining forums, I get the feeling that I'm not going to find anything.

So my question is, what would be a good place to ask about for dinner Dec. 11 and Dec. 13? There are 5 of us so kind of a big group. We are going to spend most if not all of our time at the Magic Kingdom.

I made ADRs in March for our September stay, but I didn't know that that was a necessity nowadays!

Thanks for any advice!

You could :
A) pick "the" place and try to call daily for availability
B) Call CRO and ask what's available, book something and then continue to try for "the" place
C) Call CRO and ask what's available and then look at the results as an adventure

I've done the "C" option before, and it all worked out just fine. :goodvibes I tend to not like to hassle a whole lot, plus its hard to be disappointed if you aren't expecting greatness. I can't help but wonder if some of the poor reviews that we see are the result of massive-mental-buildup leading into the experience. Best of Luck to You! Let us know what you come up with.

I vote "B". Call NOW, don't wait, and see what is available. If you don't get your top choices, at least you will have made a reservation. Then if you want to try to get something that wasn't currently available you can continue to call.

Good luck!:goodvibes

Make your reservations now. You can keep calling even while you are there to see if there are any that you really want or to change the times. Since you will be spending most of your time in MK consider eating at Kona in the Poly, The Wave in Contemporary, or one of the restaurants in the Grand Floriddean. It is just a monorail ride away.

Thank you all! I honestly never thought of just calling and asking what's available. I thought you had to ask about a specific location.

I'm going to give it a try. :santa:

I got Boma for Thursday night and Ohana for Friday morning. My second choice on both. I just wanted to let you know and to thank you for your encouragement. :goodvibes

the Plaza at MK is good & we also have gotten into GF Cafe at short notice. And don't forget the CS places at the Monorail resorts are fun & it is a way to check out the resorts.

Why not try the Wave at Contemporary for dinner, it is great. (I believe the Wave also serves breakfast and lunch)

Artist Point for dinner, also excellent.

Kona Cafe for breakfast or lunch.

Enjoy!

I had been trying for Chef Mickey's for weeks for our upcoming Dec. 4-9 trip.(my son is crazy for Mickey) Of course, everyday everything was booked. I had given up and made res. elsewhere, but I tried again on a whim-- and actually got a res, at a great time! Make other plans and then keep trying for what you want. You'll have a great Christmas trip either way! Good luck:thumbsup2
