Where can we stay and get the front of the line passes. I know Hard Rock anywhere else? And can you put 5 in a room? Where can I find out which rides offer front of the line passes. Do they work like Disney fastpasses? We are thinking one day universal, one day Islands of Adventure. Does Islands of Adventure offer front of the line passes. We would go FRi/SAT of Thanksgiving week so do I need the pass for that week? Any info will help thanks.

You would get better response posting in the Universal/IOA section of the Dis as this is related to that rather than budget. Universal has three hotels and only those three participate in the FOTL pass.

All three on-site hotels will give you unlimited express passes. They are Royal Pacific Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Portofino Bay Hotel. The unlimited express pass works like a fast pass but you don't need to go to the ride at a specific time. Just show your room key to the attendant and you enter in the express pass lane.

If you decide to stay off-site you can purchase an express pass for the days you're in the park. Prices vary depending on how busy the park is (I beleive they range from about $25/day to $50/day). This will allow you to ride each ride once using the express pass lane.

US/IOA also has a VIP pass that gives you the unlimited express pass without staying on-site. Its pretty expensive and in my opinion you're better off staying on-site. Keep in mind that one night on-site gives you two days of unlimited express pass, the day you check in and the day you check out.

The three Loews hotels on USIOA property offer the privilege: Hard Rock, Royal Pacific, and Portofino Bay. It works at both parks. The rooms can accomodate 5 if you pay extra for a rollaway bed, although at Royal Pacific that would be VERY tight (pretty much no floor to walk on tight.)

It is NOT a pass, actually. You simply present your room key for a scan to enter the ride's express line. Most of the time you can do it as often as you like at any ride that has an express line, but on very busy days they may restrict guests to one FOTL ride turn per day on a given ride during peak hours. (So on Thanksgiving, for instance, you usually cannot go FOTL onto Spiderman 14 times in a row. On your average Tuesday in September, no problem.)

Be aware that during peak holiday weeks, the room rates on-property at USIOA are very expensive. The best rate currently available (at RPH) on Thanksgiving weekend is $294 plus tax. These rates do not include admission to the parks; you still have to buy park tickets.

I'm going to move this thread over to the US Orlando Resort & Hotels Forum. The OP will get the most complete and up-to-date answers from the members there. :)

Something else to consider... When staying on-site, you get unlimited FOTL access for your entire party included in the price of the room. If you stay off-site and purchase FOTL passes you have to pay for each person seperately. So even though the on-site hotels are expensive, if you want FOTL it might be a better deal to just stay on-site for 1 night to get FOTL for 2 days, instead of staying off-site and paying for FOTL for 5 people x 2 days.

We went to Universal in April 2007 and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. It was pricey, but the unlimited FOTL was so worth it. We only stayed for 1 night and got FOTL for 2 days, and did 1 day in each park. And its a really cool hotel. If you have teens/tweens, they will love it.

When I have decisions like this to make I always just price it out both ways. Then I can feel like I'm really making an "informed" decision.

Actually we were there( RPR) Christmas and brought a twin size air mattress with us, it fit perfectly next to the window and we had the whole rest of the room to move around in . It was Myself, DH, DS 7, DS10, and DS 14. We stood it up against the wall when we needed more room and to tell you the truth we spent most of our time out of the room at the parks, at the pool, and roaming the beautiful hotel. The rates may be high now but ours dropped from $259 to $126 about 2 months before our trip, you just have to keep checking for rates to lower and all you do is call and change your rese...super easy. Good luck!

Don't want to be rude but I have been during busy peak days and never heard of this happening and never happened to me

there is no limitation on on site guests using their hotel key for the express line.

It is unlimited rides.

you can have 5 in a room at the onsite hotels.
you are not required to have to rent a rollaway bed.

some rooms have the pull out sofa which is used as a bed.

if you do not stay on site and wish to purchase the epp (express pass plus)
it is valid to be used one time only per attraction/ride.
It is valid for one date only.

it is sold per park.
if you want to have the epp for both parks, it is an additional charge.

never buy the epp until you get to the park.
there are somedays it is not necessary.

if you buy the epp in advance and don't need it, it is yours to keep.
they are non refundable tickets.

If you stay on site, the hotel key which is used for the express line, is valid for 2 days.
the day you check into the hotel and the day you check out of the hotel.

sweet perk.....
