We just got a great airfare so we are flying in on Saturday and spending a day or two at the beaches before heading to OKW.

I just checked the disney cruise site and it said the Magic will be leaving at 5 p.m. on Sat. April 20th. If our flight is on time (3:30), I think we could get to Cape Canaveral right as the ship is leaving and would love for my kids to wave bon voyage to it so they can get an idea of what the real thing will be like when we cruise in October for the first time.

I got directions off of Dave's web site to the port but don't know where I can park or where to go since I am not actually taking the cruise, just wanting to wave goodbye :)

thanks!

You will not be able to get into the terminal area because of the new security measures. You would need valid cruise documents and a photo id.

You can get to Jetty Park, which is at the edge of the waterway that the cruise ships take to get out into the ocean. I've been there a couple of times, it's very nice.

Here's a map of the Port Canaveral area that shows Jetty Park:
http://www.portcanaveral.org/business/ftzmap.gif

On the map, Jetty Park is at the end of the long yellow area on the right side of the waterway. You'll be very close to the ship while being on land from that point, and you can wave and help them celebrate the sailaway party.

There is a $3 per car parking fee when you enter the park.

And I got the driving directions from the FAQ section of the Port Canaveral site. It's in a pop up window so I can't give you a link to it, but here's a copy and paste:
*************************************
Directions to Jetty Park at Port Canaveral:
Follow signs along SR 528 and turn into Port's main entrance at traffic
light. Take left into Port and veer right along George King Boulevard
Go past Port Authority offices and South Cargo Gate entrance
When you cross over Atlantic Drive, George King Boulevard turns into
Jetty Park Drive.
Entrance into Jetty Park is straight ahead.

Also, if you miss the Magic on Saturday, the Wonder will be leaving for a four day cruise at 5pm on Sunday afternoon.

hope that helps
