Procter & Gamble's New Tempo Debuts at General Motors Goodwrench Service Plus Dealers
CINCINNATI (April 3, 2001) - Starting to feel like spilled juice, runny noses and dirty fingerprints on the dashboard are as standard in your car as the airbags and AM/FM radio? Then drive into a participating GM Goodwrench Service Plus Dealer this spring and receive a free gift that could help you clean up those on-the-go messes. Procter & Gamble (P&G) and General Motors (GM) recently announced a partnership to distribute P&Gs Tempo, a brand new four-ply multi-use paper product designed to help drivers handle on-the-road mishaps, easily and conveniently.
During April and May, Tempo will be available only through participating GM Goodwrench Service Plus Dealers and the Tempo Web site, located at
www.gotempo.com. GM plans to distribute a free Tempo gift pack to GM service customers who redeem coupons for their spring service specials*. The Tempo gift pack includes a Tempo Car Case, two Car Case refills and two Tempo Pocket Packs.
The Tempo Car Case is designed to handle multiple tasks for "life in the car." It conveniently clips on a visor or seatback pocket, so it's easy to locate when needed, compared to a tissue box or paper towel roll that can be hard to reach. The product's easy, one-hand dispensing allows drivers to conveniently grab Tempo and use it or give it to passengers without ever taking their eyes off the road. Tempo is also available in a Pocket Pack, which fits easily in a pocket, purse, briefcase, gym bag or lunch box and is convenient to take on the go.
"We are thrilled to team up with General Motors," said Tarang Amin, Marketing Director, Procter & Gamble Global Family Care Division. "GM has always been committed to drivers and their passengers, specifically in areas of safety, convenience and helping to ensure a more pleasant driving experience. We are excited that the Tempo Car Case will play a role by helping to simplify the driving experience."
Families, in particular, have responded very enthusiastically to Tempo. "Families like the fact that they can have one versatile product that's always within arm's reach and have told us that having Tempo in the car has changed their driving experience," Amin said. "The family driving experience can almost literally drive you crazywith screaming kids, spilled juice boxes and sticky backseat messes. But with Tempo, families now have a solution to help ease driving-related stress."
Procter & Gamble produces and markets more than 300 brands in more than 140 countries. In fiscal year 1999-2000, P&G had worldwide sales of nearly $40 billion. The company's Tissue, Towel and Facial products include Charmin, Bounty and Puffs, in addition to Tempo.
