Where can I buy affordable window treatments?

:surfweb:I've been searching, and it seems like shades, etc. are really expensive. We used to have miniblinds and drapes. We took all that down when we remodeled and it will not fit the windows we have now, nor would it go with the colors we have painted the walls.

I am in major need of window coverings. We did some fancy window casings in our living room, so I was thinking about getting Roman Shades in there. Has anyone ever bought roman shades at J C Penney? They are having a sale - 70% off their custom made shades. I'm not that fussy that I need custom made, but our windows are weird sizes and I don't think off the rack shades will fit.

Any other suggestions on where to get them?:confused3

Thanks from a totally inept interior non-decorator!:cutie:

I've found that even when JCP is having a big sale on window treatments, the sale price is not as good as what can be found on sites like blindsgalore.

You might consider going to your local fabric shop. True custom roman shades may be more cost effective if you can find a local seamstress.

In the past, I've used blindsgalore and american blinds(site is down) for wood blinds.

Have you tried Bed, Bath and Beyond? My local store will let you use up to 4 coupons per purchase and will even take coupons that are expired. There prices are fairly reasonable and an additional 20% off really helps. I would also suggest stores like Big Lots. That is where I purchased my pleated shades a couple of years ago. I was lucky to find the size and color that I needed - they were only $10 each!

Good luck on your bargain hunt!:goodvibes

I have bought cellular shades at JCP in both standard sizes & custom size with top down bottom up option. I have been happy with both.

I want to do Roman shades in my dining room, but am waiting until I find drapes or fabric I like for valances before choosing the fabric for the roman shades.

I also have used American Blinds & Wallpaper. To give you some idea of prioce, I had pleated shades ordered for every window of my home and the cost was about $1000. (I have a 2 story home with approximately 13 windows (most of them double windows)

I have used this company for both of the homes we built. I am extremely satisfied. I have had NO problems with them.

Ditto. I also buy all my curtains at Penneys, they have a huge selection of both ready-made and custom order and I've always been happy with the quality. In fact I'm just about read to order some more cellular shades from them.

I've ordered several styles of blind from Domestications and found the prices pretty good compared to store prices. I especially liked the dual action pleated shade - it works well and looks nice.

I have found them cheep at Anna's Linens and Jc Penney both which you can shop online.
