My toddler (dd1) keeps taking off her sun hat that doesn't have a strap, rendering its effects useless! Has anyone found an infant/toddler sun hat with a chin strap? Do they sell them anywhere at WDW?
I had the same problem with my DS. My Grandma recommended the Wallaroo Hat Company because of their SPF50 protection. I got one for my DS and it has been great! http://wallaroohats.com/products/kids.php
I found one on sale at Gymboree a few weeks ago. I also like the Hanna Andersson ones. Both have velcro chin straps. The above one with sun SPF protection sounds cool!
I bought 2 Hanna Andersson hats this year - one I found on ebay for a good price. I like them a lot because they have a wide brim (wider than the hats I've bought in the past from Old Navy) and because they tie - no velcro straps. Kiddos can easily take off the velcro straps.
Not for the OP, since she has a hat already, but for anyone else: the easiest thing to do is to cut a couple of the stitches on either side of the hat where the brim is sewn on, then thread a piece of elastic through the little gaps. Leave it long enough to go halfway around the hat plus enough to go under the chin, then tie it off in a double-knotted bow. Instant stretch chin strap.
Glad you found one! It sounds like the one I described which I absolutely LOVE! I bought one last year for my DD who was 8 mths at the time and just bought a larger one for this summer. I just wish I had them for my first two kids. I have purchased soooo many hats over the last three kids and never found one that I liked so much. Hope it works for you!
I got one at Target. It has SPF of 50 in the material which is a great PLUS! Although it does have a strap, DD who is 1 STILL finds a way to get it off...
