Where can 5 stay?

We are a family of 5, myself, DH, DD (22), DS(15) & DS (11), so basically 4 adults and a child. Last time we had 2 rooms at ASSports because my husband couldn't take everyone in one room and that was 3 years ago. I would love to stay at a mod or deluxe but am concerned about price. Can you get a rollaway in the AKL bunk rooms? Any suggestions?

The deluxe savanah rooms at AKL hold five.
2 queens and a daybed, which the 11yo will have no problem with.

Especially with a discount, I would consider it!

Most deluxe rooms hold 5, so you've got some options.

I agree with the previous poster, consider staying in an AKL deluxe room. We had plenty of room there with 5 last May. :)

That is great to hear!! I was also looking at OKW but its probably too late to book for this summer. I just planned a "last minute" trip for DS and myself for 1 month from today with no problem but I'm starting to obsess again about a big family trip. I'm getting an AP so hopefully there will be a nice discount at the AKL.

As far as price goes, you'll pay an extra $25 plus tax per night for the 22-year-old at a deluxe. We have a 20-year-old, so I can relate. Also, it is often cheaper to get two rooms at a value and sometimes cheaper to get two rooms at a moderate than it is to get one room at a deluxe.

Our family's ages are similar to yours, and we're okay in a deluxe. We prefer to do that over All Stars because of the lack of amenities (good pool and location) and Fort Wilderness transporation issues. We visit AKL to eat and hang out, but I'm not sure I would choose it b/c the deluxe room is priced comparably to the Epcot resorts. With older children, you can't beat the proximity to Epcot and MGM and fantastic pool there.

Which ones are Epcot resorts? Talked to my husband last night and he is still very hesitant to stay in one room. I just am dying to stay at AKL and would rather do that than 2 value rooms.

Epcot resorts are YC, BC, BWI, the villas of BC and BW, and the S/D.

S/D have some great discounts! and you're in the middle of the magic, between Epcot and Studios.
But, you'll probably need two rooms with your group at the S/D.
Or a junior suite.

If one of you work as nurse, teacher, government employee....
I would look into one of these discounts!::yes::

I do happen to be a teacher but staying at the Swan/Dolphin doesn't seem to hold any magic for me. I know there are people who love it but do you really feel like you're at Disney?

If you decide to try for a DVC resort, you will need a 2 bedroom villa since you have five over the age of 3. But your kids would each have their own bed if one uses the sleeper sofa in the living room.

Don't want to start a debate here, but the S/D are deluxe resorts and "in the middle of the magic"!

And I've stayed at most of the deluxe WDW resorts.
We stay there at least once a year!

Can NOT beat it for VALUE and LOCATION!::yes::

And you did express that you are concerned about price, but you would like to try something nicer!

JMHO......:earsgirl:

I guess what I meant was that despite being in WDW, does it seem Disney-like, or just like a nice hotel. Themeing, I guess, is what I'm saying. The little details that remind you of Mickey and the magic.

Do they have AP rates or would the teacher rate be the best deal?

Teacher's rate. Much lower than AP rate.::yes::

Bout the only thing not disney is the mickey wake up call and mickey soaps, and charging privies in the parks on your room card.

Other than that, there ARE character meals and disney-oriented stores with Disney merchandise!

Just something else for you to think about!

That's what I wanted to hear! I want to see Mickey paraphanalia at the hotel I'm staying at.

Definitely a consideration now...

Thanks to all for your input.
