I see that no For Sales can be posted on the rental board. Are they ever posted on the DIS? We are in a position to buy but I need to be able to see what they sell for, etc, to give DH real information.

I don't believe they are permitted here. Check the resellers - Timeshare Store or DVC by Resale - to see current prices.

For Sale posts are not allowed anywhere on the DIS. Below is taken from our DIS Posting Guidelines:

1. FOR SALE For sale ads are strictly prohibited on any of the DISboards. Anyone posting such ads will have their post deleted. This same policy applies to links to your ebay/auction listings . "For sale" posts includes requests for donations (see below). In addition, "Vote for me" posts are not permitted on the DIS. This includes requests for support in an online contest, sweepstakes, lottery or other event designed to yield personal gain

Yes, that is what I was wondering: Where to look at the postings - NOT where to post a sale.

So, basically everyone goes through a third party such as TSS?

Yes, just Google DVC resales and you'll find lots of resellers. TTS probably has the largest inventory, though.

to make it easy hear are some of the best links to brokers

http://www.atimeshare.com/disney/buy-disney.html (I bought through)

http://www.dvc-resales.com/faq.htm (very good to work, but i beleve do not do "open listings" from other brokers)

http://www.**********.com/TO_BUY______________DVC_Resale/page_1924721.html (very experianced with good references)

http://www.timesharesonly.com/destinations/united-states/florida/lake-buena-vista (GMAC/Fidelity listings, I would suggest that if you find a contract you are interested on this list that you contact #1 or #3 borker above to act as our agent and to get you information)

Hope this helps

As a buyer you have little or nothing to gain by purchasing directly from the seller. The seller pays the commission on the sale. You will be expected to pay the closing costs and reimburse some/all of the current-year dues (depending on how many points have been used on the contract) but those items are actually negotiable.

It's tempting to think that by buying directly from the seller you might be able to negotiate a lower price since they would be saving on the commission but it doesn't usually work that way in practice. Disney sets the floor on prices because they have Right of First Refusal -- if the price is really low, they can step in as the buyer and buy back the contract themselves. Also it is a buyers' market right now so you will find good prices available from resale brokers since unfortunately many people are being forced to sell their contracts due to the economy.

Take a look at the listings and also look through the ROFR thread here where people report what they offered and whether or not they made it through the ROFR process or lost the contract to Disney.

Feel free to email The Timeshare Store, Inc.® at sales@dvcstore.com with your first and last name and we will add you to our distribution list and email you our latest brochure. We receive about 150 to 180 new listings every month and you will receive an email when we get new listings. Of course, feel free to call us as well as we have 6 associates that all specialize in DVC.
