Where are the best preferred rooms at POP?

We are going 1/10-13 and have booked preferred rooms. But now I'm hearing everyone talking about the lake views and seeing fireworks, but since they're all on the back sides of buildings I won't be able to request that since we've booked preferred already.

We do want to be closer to the buses/food court, etc. I think mid January the weather will be too cool for swimming. We live in FL so I definitely don't swim unless it's very warm! I know the pools are heated, but I'm sure we'll be busy during the day at the parks and the nights will be too cool, after you get out and are all wet! So I don't know that I care about being near a pool.

We're also going with another couple and requested connecting rooms.

Am I better off requesting a non-preferred room if we'd like a nice view?

Also with little kids are most of the preferred rooms in high traffic areas and will be noisy?

Thanks!

We were there in July and we requested a preferred room to be closer to the pools(thinking it would be a pool view room). When we arrived it was not close to the pool and it was a far trek to the parking lot.We called and wanted to know if there was a mistake and we were told it was preferred because it is closer to the Classic Hall. The other times we have stayed we took a standard room same view, but quiet and closer to the pool and parking lot. Go figure,,,,,,We still love it there but we will not pay for preferred again....

We are going back for our second January trip this year and you might very well use the pools. That does not mean you need a room overlooking a pool. The parks all close earlier than at warmer times of the year and we went back and used the pools almost every night. They are heated to 82 degrees and are really comfy at the end of a long day.

I can't help on the room selection at Pop, but I'm looking forward to the responses since that's where we'll be too Jan 12-19

Good Luck!

If I may be so bold.. if you want to see the fireworks, simply walk over to the 50's building and take the elevator to the fourth floor and walk around the deck until you see them. When they are over - head back to your room.

No need to get your room all the way back there just for that!
