....just wondering, when your kids were pottie trained, how long after did they stop wetting at night? I still have to put pull ups on my DS (4) since he wakes up wet every morning. Of course, he just pottie trained a couple months ago (he suffers from Asperger Syndrome ~ so he's delayed) but he's still waking up wet. Even if he lays down for a nap, he still can wake up wet. (So now when I see him getting sleepy & wanting to lay down, if I can't get him to go pottie before his nap, I'll put a pull up on him.)

I'm anxious to get him to wake up dry because we're going on a cruise in May & if he's not totally pottie trained, he can't go into the kids clubs. I just worry if he ends up wanting to take a nap ~ then what do I do? :confused3

My son was pretty much dry from the time we trained him. My daughter on the other hand is being a bit harder...she has been trained for like 3 months and is still having accidents during the day and at night. Its still a bit early for her so I'm giving it time.

So I have no idea, I always heard boys were ahrder to train but I dinf the opposite true.

Good luck with him:)

DD is also 4. About twice a week she'll wake up wet at night. For awhile there I was waking her up when I went to bed to have her pee but I'm trying to just have her really empty her bladder before bed and limit liquids after dinner.

Good Luck!

Our DS is 4.5 and still wets at night. He'll occasionally make it through dry, but it's not that often. Our pediatrician said they don't worry about it until the kid is 7!!!

Our DD stopped wearing pullups on her second birthday, grammy and papaw got her a potty that played music and some princess panties, :rotfl2:as a gift. She had one accident that next week but none since. We make a potty trip a part of her bedtime routine so I think this helps a bunch.

Wow ~ lucky you!

DS hasn't had any daytime accidents of any kind, just the night time is the problem. I just spoke to my friend about it & she said that her DD was 7 before she slept thru the night dry! Lucky for my friend that her DD was really small & could still fit in pull ups!

Well, I guess I'll still put my DS in the kids club on the ship but I'll have to tell the CM to page me if he gets sleepy so that he won't have an accident there. (I hope they'll do that!) :confused3

My DD was trained at 19 mos and she never had an accident at night, My DS was trained by 2 and he had maybe 4 in the next couple months but that was it.

Thank the Lord for Pull-Ups. Our DS also has Asperger's and I don't even want to TELL you how old he was before he was dry at night. But the beauty of it was that with pull-ups, I didn't have to wash sheets and the bed was never wet in the morning. It was pretty much a non-issue. I figured that he wouldn't go off to college wearing pull ups. ;) Seriously, I think he was in about second grade before he was dry every night. We bought the Extra Large pull-ups - at least we didn't have to switch to adult sized Depends!

DS's problem was that he was (is) SUCH a deep sleeper. We simply COULD NOT wake him up to go potty after he had fallen asleep.

As for the cruise, put him in a sleek pull up and forget about it. :goodvibes If he wets during his nap, they'll never know.

Once trained, I've never put pull-ups on my son at night. In almost 2 years he has had a few accidents, but nothing ever conisistent. At this age, I wouldn't worry about it yet. As far as the cruise, I would consider this to be "completely potty trained". I think a lot of kids still use pull-ups at night. I wouldn't worry about it.

DD was 28 months old when she was potty trained. She never had an "accident" of any sort from the time she switched to underwear.

However, the night was different, and I don't consider that part of being potty trained. She was a very heavy sleeper and never went one night dry. She slept in pull-ups until she was 6.

We went to the doctor to discuss it, and they talked about doing all kinds of tests. I was skeptical about them, because she could go all day and not need to go. I had "wet the bed" as a child, and I knew she was a very heavy sleeper (as I was).

I found an old book at the library that was a behavior modification type thing. It was based on a reward system and on getting in bed and focusing on how it feels to need to go to the restroom and then jumping up and running to the restroom (practicing if you will). I'll admit that I was a little skeptical about it, but by the end of one month, her problem was gone - completely!

My daughter was trained at 2, and wet the bed until 6. At 6 we put her on meds to help her stop. It was a hormone nasal spray. Worked wonders, but I think 4 is a bit young for that route.

Sorry if this has been posted, I havent read all the replies, but have you tried the basics: limit fluids for 2 hours before bed, make sure he goes before bed, wake him up once in the night to go?

As for the cruise, if its just a matter of the kids club and he's fine when he's awake I wouldnt worry about it. They dont need to know he wears a pull up at bed time. He wont be sleeping while int he kids club will he?

Hannah was well into her 5th year before she was dry at night. It was very frustrating! She is 6 now, and still has accidents once in a while. Emily (5) was younger than 4 when she was trained at night. We still make sure they empty their bladders before htey go to bed, and limit liquids close to bed time. Spenda-flavored drinks seem to be a problem for us, too.

For my kids, pull-ups were the enemy. As long as they had them on, they would pee in them. I got so mad at my day care person because she was putting them on the kids at nap time. Emily would pee in them immediately after she put them on, even before she went to bed.

But changing sheets in the middle of night was no fun either. I started putting a large crib pad under them at night, which made clean-up much easier.

As for the cruise, all they expect is day time training with no help - buttons, zippers, etc. There were a lot of parents who would stop by the club periodically to take their kids to the bathroom, to make sure they wouldn't have accidents. Some kids do fall asleep in the club, so if you think your son will, you might want to take him out when you think he might be getting sleepy. I also don't think your son would be banned from the club for one accident, but probably after several.

Good luck.
