nope

At first I was going to be named Mary Ann after the Virgin Mary and her Mother but my dad talked her out of that. They just kept the Ann as my middle name (Not sure but I think Ann is the middle name of 75% of the catholic female population..lol)

My first name came about because of a disagreement between my parents.

My mom wanted to name me Laura. My dad wanted to name me Kathleen.

Put them together and what have you got ? (not bippidy boppidy boo!!!!) Laureen! :)

I have a cousins name as my middle name but my very own first name. I didn't give my daughter anyone elses name but her own. I am not a big fan of naming your child after your own first name, middle names are ok though becuase then you don't become Little Steve and Big Steve or some other silly thing they have to tack on to your name becuase 2 people in the house have the same name. I also thought it was a little egotistical to name your child the same exact name as yourself anyway....but thats only my opinion...

My sister was given my Mom' middle name......June-so she is Deborah June
I was given my paternal Grandma's middle name....Ellen-so I am Laura Ellen

My parents gave all three of us kids unisex names. That way, they only had to pick out one name, not two. How efficient of them.

I was named Renee. Had I been a boy, I had been named Rene.

I fall into the 75% of Catholic females with the middle name of Ann (same as mom, although don't know if it was intentional).

DS is the 5th in line on DH's paternal side with identical initials, using same middle name, but original 1st names.

My parents didn't want to name us after anyone.

Yes ~ My mum's name is Florence and so is mine.

THere is a habit in DH's family for mother and daughter to share a middle name.... which I continued. But I had planned on using my middle name for my daughter's middle name even before I met my DH and had kids. My middle name is the first name of my Dad's only sister who died at age 3 of an ear infection. She was the only girl in a family of 8 boys....:( . ....................P

I was named after the actress, Yvonne DeCarlo. She was the actress starring in the first movie my parents saw together when they started dating. I'm named after "Mrs. Munster"!!!

Now, in our family my father-in-law's middle name is Duane, and my husband's middle name is also Duane, and our son's middle name is Duane, and our grandson's middle name is Duane!! :)

I answered no, but the funny thing is that my son shares a common middle name with my dad, my brother, and lots of other relatives in my family tree. And my daughter shares her mother and grandmother's middle name.

Both of my parents were named after their fathers. My dad is an Anthony Jr. and my mom was named Christine after my grandfather whose name is Christopher. They didn't name my sister and I after anyone, they just used names they liked. When I have kids, I know I want to use my parents or grandparents names as middle names.

I don't but my dads middle name was his dads first name.

My middle name was given to me in honor of my grandfather...his middle name was Lee. I didn't like it when I was younger but since he's passed away, I like it more and more. It makes me feel connected to him.

I chose to honor my mother when I named my daughter. Both of their middle names are Elizabeth. After I named her, my mother told me that HER grandmother's middle name was also Elizabeth. I like that it's skipped a generation each time. Maybe one of my future grandchildren will give their child that middle name.

I don't, but my sons do. My name kept the tradition of Scottish names in the family. My oldest has my middle as his first and my dad's middle as his middle.
The second son, has my FIL's middle as his middle. It was the only one that we could stomach
:)

And even it is his middle, we gave him another middle so he can choose to drop one if he so wishes. Only problem is that the oldest then wanted another name too :teeth:

My middle name is Louise - after my maternal grandmother as well as an Aunt on my Dad's side (two birds and all that!)

My brother's middle name is McRay - so is my Dad's, his Dad's, his Dad's, as well as 3 male cousins of my generation....

Now, we had Hunter McRay picked out if we had a boy - we had a girl.... who is Madison Nicole - now, why didn't I think of Madison McRay??? (Hindsight!)

Fun thread!

My Mom's name is Mary. My Dad's aunt's name was Marie. My middle name is Marie and so if my Daughter's.

My brother's middle name is the same as my father's - Michael.

My DH's middle name is Jon, his father's name is John.

When I was in 5th grade, every girl's middle name in my class (except one) was Marie.

Denae

I am SO GLAD my parents didn't pass their names down to me. ;) When I was pregnant with my oldest DD, my father begged me to name her after my mother. I told him sincerely, "Dad, I love Mom with all my heart but I will NOT curse my child with the name Verna!" :earseek: I knew my mother hated the name, why would I give it to her grandchild!!

I did use my maiden name, Kirk, as my son's first name. There is no one else to carry the name on in my family so I thought it fitting to use for his first name. I have to admit, it took me quite awhile before actually SAYING it as a first name felt right to me! :teeth: It had always been a last name. ::yes::

youngest DD is named for her paternal great grandmother
who died when her grandfather (my father) was only 11 yrs old
It is the one thing in life I am glad I did
