When you pay cash rate for weekends, what do you do with points you would have used?

I understand fri and sat nite points are double, but you pay cash rate (with member discount of course) for the room on those nites, and then do you keep your points that you would have had to use, or do you try to rent/transfer out those points for cash, or do you just hold onto them for future use?

I've done cash for Friday and/or Saturday night because I didn't have any points left. If I did have a few leftover points, I banked them.

I use them for a second trip. I have two contracts for 165 points each, one at HH and one at BCV. My HH points will get a 2BR in summer for five weeknights. Friday and Saturday night would cost the same number of points (Friday 66 points and Saturday 99 points). If I pay cash for the weekend (or just leave after five days, which is what we usually do) I then have enough points to have another five day vacation at HH, same unit size, later in the summer if I want a second beach trip. If we don't go to HH again we use them at WDW and stay at BCV using our points there.

Personally, I have rented the saved points out, and paid for my weekends (2 so far scheduled) and my annual dues on a contract or two.

I pay cash on weekends to stretch the points/vacation out. We are taking a two week trip in a one bedroom in August by paying cash for 3 weekend nights. Works for me

I pay for weekends so we can get two vacations a year. The few that are left over I bank. We only have 170 points and right now we just stay in studios until we can afford to add more points.

Lets say you have enough points (hard to believe I know).

I was looking at points for BCV for December Fri/Sat. The studio is 22 points a night. I looked up rates and they are $294 -25% discount + 11.5% tax = $245. No deal here, right? Just wondering if it depends on room size, resort?
When is it cost saving?

Just answered my own question. Looks like 1 BR is a deal. It is $334 per night with tax and discount and is 45 points. I get it!!!
