I’ve never heard of Jewel. I’m not sure if you’re Canadian or not but it’s Superstores in-house brand.

I asked because I worked for Jewel many years ago and they had a store brand President's Choice. We no longer have them in my state- WI. Jewel is a Chicagoland grocery. They used to be owned by Albertson's but idk about currently.

The cheese with Kraft Dinner (what it’s called up here) changed a few years ago and it’s gross. There’s something in it now that really upsets my stomach. I prefer the Presidents Choice brand now (store brand).

At least we're polite enough not to dignify it by calling it macaroni and cheese. None of the boxed ones are remotely like the homemade stuff although I like them just fine for what they are.

Because the products were chosen by the president of Loblaw (a grocery chain), though now sold at other stores owned by the same parent company.

Originally, Dave Nichols, the then president of the company did personally endorse all the PC products. Note that President's Choice (PC) is distinct from No name (which is the store's generic house brand).

I'm sitting here giggling at the vision of Galen Weston Jr., one of the richest Canadians that has ever lived, earnestly being able to evaluate plebe food like knock-off Kraft Dinner.

I noticed a less cheesy taste a long time ago. Our grocery store used to sell Kraft Mac N Cheese powder in a can. I haven't been able to find the powder in a couple of years. I really miss it.

It’s been over 10 years since anyone in the house asked for boxed m&c. Last month I picked up a 3 pack of the velveeta shells for myself, which I used to enjoy. Not sure whether my tastes have changed or the ingredients, but after a few bites it was tossed. Still have the other 2 boxes might use the noodles for quick soup or something.

It did not taste like velveeta, it tasted like the cheapest cheese-in-a-can imaginable.
