When you have bought Kraft Macaroni And Cheese have you noticed that they changed the flavor?

I haven’t bought any for probably 20 years. It seems just as easy to me to boil regular macaroni and put butter and shredded real cheddar in it as it is to do a box mix, and the real cheese tastes better. I wouldn’t doubt that the flavor has changed though, as it has in many other products after many chemicals were removed and replaced with supposedly safer options.

The cheese with Kraft Dinner (what it’s called up here) changed a few years ago and it’s gross. There’s something in it now that really upsets my stomach. I prefer the Presidents Choice brand now (store brand).

Never bought the powdered Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, only the Kraft Deluxe Macaroni and Cheese with the paste cheese sauce. I think our kids used to by the Easy Mac when they were in college to keep in the room.
When I discovered how easy it is to make Macaroni and Cheese from scratch, that is all we do anymore. I make it with the sharpest cheddar cheese I can find, either Extra Sharp or if they have it the Extra Extra Sharp cheddar. But I get that some people are used to the taste of the Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. In the 1990s my kids daycare center cook make it from scratch and the kids wouldn't eat it. They were used to the Kraft taste.

Yes, I noticed the difference a few years ago when they changed it. They purposely changed the color, so it doesn't have an artificial coloring any more. Unfortunately, they changed the taste too.

BUT I recently bought those like little lunch servings in the cups

I eat Velvetta Shells & Cheese

I haven't bought it in a while, but when I bought the little microwavable cups, I preferred Velvetta Shells & Cheese to the Easy Mac. So much cheesier. Velvetta also just sells little pouches of the cheese sauce. Just squeeze it into the pot with the hot macaroni. Stir to heat the sauce and coat the macaroni. Done.

The last few boxes have been gross. I chalked it to maybe my butter being freezer burnt. My family said it was fine. I didn’t eat it. I make it “homemade” usually with velvetta, but I like to have a box on hand when I don’t have a side dish.

I noticed it when they took out the coloring years ago. Taste definitely went downhill. I only use it now when mixing with other ingredients.

I tried the Cheetos Mac And Cheese and I disliked it too and these days it's hard to find good macaroni and cheese these days. My mother used to buy the Velveeta Shells And Cheese in the cups and that one I really did like a lot. But when I get Kraft Macaroni And Cheese I perfer the Easy Mac version to the boxed version. I think Kraft needs to improve their boxed macaroni and cheese and if they did a miracle and improved it it would taste better

I feel like we discussed this on the Canada thread - PC White Cheddar for the win. Though I brought back a few boxes for my American colleague (we are based in Europe) and she is taste testing Canadian KD, American Kraft mac and cheese, PC orange, and PC white. For science, you understand :)

I'm familiar with Kraft Dinner, but how come Canada has "President's Choice" instead of "Prime Minister's Choice"?

Because the products were chosen by the president of Loblaw (a grocery chain), though now sold at other stores owned by the same parent company.

Originally, Dave Nichols, the then president of the company did personally endorse all the PC products. Note that President's Choice (PC) is distinct from No name (which is the store's generic house brand).

And yet Dave Nichols calls himself President and not Prime Minister of Loblaw? INTERESTING.:scratchin🇨🇦🔍

Was Loblaw founded by Bob Loblaw?

I haven’t had it in quite a while, but my kids used to like it so we had it occasionally when they were younger. Your post makes me want to try it again and see what I think of it now.

One thing I did notice on the shelves starting maybe a year ago, is a Cheetos brand macaroni and cheese. I haven’t tried it, but wonder if Kraft has changed, would this brand be any cheesier.

I just may have to pick up a box of each and have a taste test!
Cheetos brand… 🤢 One bite and it was in the trash.
