When you have bought Kraft Macaroni And Cheese have you noticed that they changed the flavor?

I had Kraft Macaroni And Cheese for dinner today and noticed that it is a lot less cheesy and I want to know if anyone who's bought Kraft Macaroni And Cheese has noticed this? Because when I usually have had it it has a lot of cheesy flavor and I have liked it. Also when I ate it I noticed that it was yellow colored rather than the bright orange color it's supposed to have. I seem to think that Kraft put the wrong macaroni noodles in the box and just called it macaroni and cheese. I buy the Kraft Easy Mac and that one is better than the boxed macaroni and cheese but have never seen this before until today when eating dinner

I haven’t had it in quite a while, but my kids used to like it so we had it occasionally when they were younger. Your post makes me want to try it again and see what I think of it now.

One thing I did notice on the shelves starting maybe a year ago, is a Cheetos brand macaroni and cheese. I haven’t tried it, but wonder if Kraft has changed, would this brand be any cheesier.

I just may have to pick up a box of each and have a taste test!

DD19 loves Kraft Mac & Cheese - when she’s home on Fall Break I’ll have her check it out - she’ll know if it’s different instantaneously.

This is not good - we threw it away.
Give it a try and maybe you’ll like it, but we give it 2 👎🏻👎🏻

We have a lot of Kraft boxes. No easy mac. I found it all depends on the "type" because original is much different tasting than the character shapes. I have little kids so we have tried it all. My daughter likes the shells better. Says they are creamier.

I noticed the same thing. I have been getting Aldi's brand instead. Tastes more like Kraft than Kraft does these days. I don't care for the color, or the taste of Kraft anymore. If I buy it, I get the Thick and Creamy one, which tastes more like the other used to.

Ok I thought it was me but I haven’t bought Kraft in the box in ages (Cracker Barrell-as in the cheese company-is the way to go for boxed plus we are at puffers fans and also make homemade) BUT I recently bought those like little lunch servings in the cups there is like 4 to a package and I thought it was just because it uses cheese sauce as opposed to powder but in general I was like this tastes different

I want to say that they probably changed the recipe many years ago, since it's been many years since I've tried it, and it didn't taste the same. I do recall it being oh-so cheesy as a kid.

When I make it, which is rarely, I only cook 1/2 - 2/3 of the noodles and use all the powder. So I wouldn’t really notice a difference.

My daughter likes the Easy Mac though we don't have it on hand often; I tasted it once and did think it tastes different from the original box stuff. Also the shapes taste different - I won't eat the shapes. I like the original.

Yes and color is different 👎👎👎👎 I don’t care for it now
I eat Velvetta Shells & Cheese
Such a shame I loved Kraft

Have not bought Kraft in about 20 years.
It used to be better than the store brand, now I stock trader Joes instead in case the grandkids want a quick fix.

In 2016 Kraft changed the recipe to remove artificial preservatives, flavors and dyes. Instead of artificial food colors including yellow 5 and yellow 6, they use natural spices for the color including paprika, annatto and turmeric.
I knew this happened but I was unsure of the timeframe.

We've bought Kraft mac & cheese after the recipe shift and didn't notice a taste difference--just color difference. But this past year, there has been a distinct change in the taste--at least in the cases purchased from Costco.

I have heard SOOO much about the Cheetos brand being horrible. I bought some for my kid to try (super taster, bougie palate, etc., figured he would take one bite and spit it out).

Dude loves it. :sad2:

I don't eat mac n cheese more than a few times a year, and it has to be GOOOOOD stuff, so I did not try it, but...it definitely is the old-school orange!

When I buy it for my kids, I buy Aldi brand. They love that one...

That's it, right there: Yellow 5. Same notorious coloring found in Mountain Dew. Completely bad for your guts. And yet, the secret to Mac n Cheese. It's like finding the home of your dreams, then discovering it's riddled with asbestos.

I haven't made the Kraft in a while, but my little niece and nephew like the similar Annie's brand and I have noticed changes in the preparation instructions over the years. It's all less creamy than it used to be.

They have definite preferences among the different varieties, too. You wouldn't think the shape would matter, but it does! 😆

K M&C is not the same thing I ate as a child. Not saying much, LOL but even my 7yr old GS doesn't like it! The noodles used to twice as big and the cheese sauce definetly is NOT the same tasting as years ago.

An easy fix to non creamy boxed Mac and cheese is to replace the "milk" with half and half or just straight butter and save maybe 2 tablespoons of the pasta water when you drain it. The starch in the water will help further thicken the sauce. I have never understood the direction to use low-fat or skim milk in these preparations. Gross and watery. I suspect it is so they can have better stats on the nutrition label for the prepared version.

My son only eats Annie's brand Mac and cheese. He eats a LOT of it. He uses half and half and like 3tbsp butter. He's a string bean and needs the extra calories. 😆
