If the site you are given is a bit "tight" for your rig, do any of you just park your tow vehicle in the overflow lot and leave it?

We are going to have 8 folks this trip (RV and Tent) and two vehicles so one will definitely have to go in the OF lot, but since we planning to have two carts we were thinking of putting BOTH vehicles in the OF lot and relying more heavily on Disney transport this go round.

Oh, we have a preferred site reserved if that helps. I was afraid the premium wouldn't have a good spot for the tent. Thanks!

We still aren't very good at backing the pop up into a spot! :lmao:

After about 30 minutes of "NO, go left...NO wait-go right, now go forward-stop!! Okay go forward....wait..okay now to the left..." Someone usually takes pity on us and comes to help (then again, it may be self-preservation) LOL

We've had the same kind of Good Samaritan assistance with our awning (which was manufactured in Hades by the devil himself). Once someone sees the awning attacking us and winning....the calvary normally shows up!

I haven't personally because I have a motorhome, but I know people who do park outside to have more room at their campsite, so it is allowed. It seems a good idea too since you'll have two carts for all your running about.

Before the Class A, we had a 38' 5er. There were a couple of occasions where we would put the truck in the overflow lot. sometimes I just felt that the truck sat too close to the road and could give another camper some grief getting through the loop or in thier site and others it was just to make sure that we had more room for the cart without getting off the pad. especy if you have a cart, it's not a big deal to put your Tow Vehicle in the overflow.

I park my tow vehicle up front either way. I just like the extra room on the site. In addition, I have a golf cart so I can just drive up front and park the golf cart when I need to use the truck.:thumbsup2

When we were at the fort this past weekend I wanted to start an I hate Class A's thread. I couldn't count how many people with Class A's had their toads sitting sideways right on the edge of the road even if they had plenty of room to move it back some. I've had to get people to move before so I could back in.

I ALWAYS park my tow vehicle at the overflow lot. Just makes my site look more like "camping"

I see this all the time. For the life of me I can't figure out why they won't park deeper into their site?!?! Most MH's doors are in the front so they will open onto concrete not the sand that is in the rear. Ok, it might take a few minutes longer to get the RV leveled out because its backed off the pad and into the sand......but is this such a big deal? I have noticed in some of the new bigger premium sites some campers are not backing all the way in because they don't have the extra water and sewer hose needed to do so. So, be aware anyone coming who has a premium site .....bring extra hose to be able to use all the site you've paid extra for!

See what happens when you post on Nyquil? You babble about something that has nothing even REMOTELY to do with the original post. Then you read it later and realize "everyone is going to think I was drunk, I better cop to the Nyquil....it's a lesser offense"

So I plead guilty to posting while under the influence of Nyquil. Sorry.....I will do some community service. On the up side, the fever is gone and my nose is no longer trying run off my face.

:rotfl2: I just wanna be there to watch you guys back in...don't worry, we've ALL been there!

Yeah, that's true. I wanted to be further back but my sewer hose was at it's limit. On my way home I stopped at Camping World and got a 15' extension (probably only to ever be used at FW!). With that long of a hose, you almost certainly need hose ramps as well to keep everything moving.

The very first time we took the pop up out was to Turkey Lake...I kid you not, there was a little crowd of people that gathered around watching while a fantastic camper named George took pity on us and helped us get into our spot.

Once we got it backed in-everyone applauded! :rotfl:

Our last couple of trips we have parked our TV in the overflow. If we decide there is somewhere we need to drive to, we park the cart in the overflow lot (not sure if you're supposed to do this or not) and then we have the cart to get back to the campsite. :thumbsup2

I parked the truck in the over flow lot for the first time on this last trip so I would have more room for Christmas inflatables!:rotfl: I liked it so much that I will probably park the truck in the OF lot from now on and just drive up with the golf cart any time we need to go off property.

I guess this is what I am to look forward to? If only the CG has a front yard like mine with the tire tracks through it I should be okies.popcorn::

If you can, hitch up and go to your local Wal-mart or Mall wherever you can find an nice big open parking lot and practice! Take a few obstacles like empty trash cans, boxes etc. My wife and I used radios when I first started towing to help me navigate. After a while, you get used to it and I can do it by myself pretty well now. Even if I have to get out and LOOK ever now and then!:drive:

Better to go slow and take your time than get a memorable crease in your camper!:scared:
