Trying to do a disney trip for less than $3K including airfare (Chicago to Orlando).

Originally we had reservations for 3/18-3/25, sadly DH's bonus kept getting put off so we had to cancel. I called Disney there is nothing open for those dates in a value resort.

So what would u do?
May 6-13th. Pro: DS's birthday falls on the 12th, so he'd get a gift certificate for the $63 or whatever to spend. Cons: We'd miss Mothers Day here with our moms, & we'd have to take the kids out of school for about 6 days. (1st grade and Pre-school).

August 12-19th. Pro: Value Season, Con: Probably HOT HOT HOT

Or would you choose different dates? We're pretty open thru the summer, and I wouldn't mind taking the kids out of school in the new school year (DS has missed a TON of school this past month from being sick and injuring his leg)

Thanks for any help!

if you dont mind taking your kids out of school for the new school year.. then why not try September... So you could possibly take advantage of the Free dining...

Since one of your options is mid Aug then why not go 1 week later if free dining is offered again? You could do a week or more for under $3000 easily. We have been several times in Aug and although it is humid we like the fact that it is guaranteed to be hot since there are som many months where Florida weather is so hit and miss. We like the waterparks and spending time by the pool so we do the parks in the morning, swim in the afternoon and go back to the parks in the evening.

Join us on our trip May 6-13th

My daughter's B-day is May 9th. Don't worry about kids missing school at that age. Mine are 15 and 13 and i still have no worries as they are A and B students

August is HOT and HUMID - but the weather is perfect for the water parks (IMO)

See I was thinking of going the following week too, as my DH's birthday falls on the 28th (again with the free Gift Certificate) however, DS's school starts the 3rd week of August, and I would hate for him to miss the first few days of school.

It was so much easier planning a trip with 8 people, we had everyone write when was good, and figured out a week to go. Now that it's just the 4 of us going...its so hard! LOL

Go for September-Free Dining is a GREAT offer, and the parks are less crowded! To quote another Dis'r "It's Africa HOT"-if you can stand the heat, this is one of the best times to go!! We're bouncing back with free dining Sept.21-Oct.1st:woohoo: :thumbsup2

I've been at WDW a few times in early May and it is by far my favorite time of the year to be there. What could be better than spending Mother's Day in the Magic Kingdom. My vote would be to bo then.

We have been to WDW in March, April, May, June, July and August. May is by far my most favorite time of the year to go; perfect weather and not too crowded. Most recently, we went in October for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. The weather was okay (a few showers late in the day) and the lines were awesome. We take our kids out of school often for our trips and they have never had a problem. We have been in WDW for my DS's birthday and for Mother's Day...very special way to spend a special day. We let my DS make the plans for his day, including dining. This year we will be on DCL for my other DS's birthday and can't wait to see how he enjoys it. I don't know about the free dining offer, but considering the cost of food on vacation, I would opt for that if you don't mind a few afternoon showers. Whatever you chose, have a magical trip!

We are going Auh 16-24 and with airfare from Chicago and resort package we are paying $3000. w are taying at Pop. It will be hot, but in August it can get pretty hot here too.

My vote's for May too. We also live in the north, and honestly, the heat HERE kills me in summer. My favorite time to go is actually Jan/Feb, but I do love the flowers in FL in Apr/May. May is a great time of year for weather too (gotta love those fall hurricanes). If you REALLY want to take advantage of free dining, I would think October may be nicer than Sept.

rapunzel, feel free to pm me, I will give you my opinion, from one illinoian to another. We have done September many times, and it was great. May is another awesome time as well. Since the kids are so young, taking them out of school may be an option for you.

we have been in september it was a great time to go , this trip will be may 2 to the 9th and will be a first for may. have you considered christmas time early dec? we went in December and loved it! all the decorations made it even that more special ,I wouldnt worry to much as far as school goes in may your kids are so young it really shouldnt have a huge effect on their grades. I just wouldnt recomend going in the summer way to hot!
