July 1-3, 2016, the Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute presents “Catch Me If You Can: The Musical” at the Hilton Head High School Seahawk Cultural Center. A high-flying musical comedy about chasing your dreams and not getting caught. Show times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students and $25 for adults. July 1, 2016, head over to the Hilton Head Branch Library for Fourth of July festivities at 2 p.m. Get the kiddos Fourth-ready as it’s the annual red, white and blue craft time. Get creative using only our nation’s colors. All supplies are provided but please dress for a mess. Kindergarten and up. This event is FREE. Every day this summer, head over to Coligny Plaza for nightly entertainment! What’s summer without magic shows, live music, good shopping, kid fun and food? Join us on the banks of Broad Creek every Friday night throughout the summer for a picnic and a sunset serenade at the pavilion in Shelter Cove Community Park. Bring a blanket, beach chair and pick up a picnic from one of the local merchants. The Sunset Celebration will feature live local music and laid back family entertainment each Friday, June 17-Sept. 2. Activities for the kids include a bounce house, juggler and face painting! July 1 - July 3, 2016, be in attendance as Main Street Youth Theatre presents the hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy, “All Shook Up,” inspired by, and featuring the songs of, Elvis Presley. Join in as every year on July 4th, hundreds of thousands of people gather on the beaches of South Carolina for Salute from the Shore. This year, the annual tribute will continue with a flyover of vintage military aircraft and F-16s from the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Head out with a group of friends to the closest beach with your best red, white, and blue as the flyover will commence at 1 p.m. in Cherry Grove and conclude over the May River Sandbar in Bluffton, SC around 1:30 p.m. For exact timing for your location and more information, visit salutefromtheshore.org.

, join in as Skull Creek hosts its 32nd Annual Fourth of July Celebration. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. from a barge in the Intracoastal Waterway but all are welcome to take part in the festivities as live music will be at Skull Creek Boathouse, Hudson’s and The Chart House. There will be FREE parking and shuttle services running from 6-10 p.m. from the Boys & Girls Club on Gum Tree Rd. to the parking lot of Chart House and back.

On Monday, July 4, 2016, kick off Independence Day and show off your red, white and blue spirit by decorating a bicycle, wagon, dog or kids for a fun-filled parade around Harbour Town. Meet at the parking lot adjacent to the Harbour Town Lighthouse at 8:30 a.m. to register and pick up decorating supplies. Parade line-up begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. and entries will be judged on patriotism. Supplies limited to first 100 registered. Holiday fun and activities to follow. Every Tuesday night throughout the summer, Shelter Cove Harbour presents HarbourFest, a family-friendly festival on the waterfront at Shelter Cove featuring live music by Shannon Tanner, Cappy the Clown, face painting, carnival games, treats from vendors and fireworks to end the night in the most spectacular way! All of these fun activities are set amid great restaurants and shops. HarbourFest runs each Tuesday June 14-August 16 from 6-10 p.m. (with the exception of July 5; the fest will be on July 4 instead), with Shannon Tanner taking the stage each night at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., before the fireworks shoot off at 9:3o p.m., weather permitting. July 5, Hilton Head Island’s signature summer event, HarbourFest, returns to Shelter Cove Harbour featuring live entertainment by Shannon Tanner twice a night, plus Cappy the Clown, arts, crafts, and game vendors and unforgettable food, along with Tuesday Night Fireworks beginning June 14. Family-friendly entertainer, Shannon Tanner, returns for his 28th season, performing two shows at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, May 3-Sept. 2, 2016, from 6-9:3o p.m. Admission is free. Every Tuesday throughout the summer, the Island Rec. Center proudly presents Summer Jams in Shelter Cove Community Park, 39 Shelter Cove Ln., from 7-9 p.m. after the Community Market (which is from 4:30-7 p.m.). This fun-filled, festive event not only features live entertainment, but fireworks which start around 9 pm. Kids of all ages can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting for a minimal fee. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the evening!

July 5-28, 2016, enjoy music by the Mike Barbara Trio at Ocean Lounge, located on the second floor of the world-class Sea Pines Beach Club every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-10 p.m. Experience live jazz and incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as a variety of specialty drinks and cocktails. All throughout July 2016, get out and enjoy a game of croquet on the immaculate lawn adjacent to the Harbour Town Clubhouse. This event will be ongoing throughout July every Tuesday morning beginning at 9 a.m.The cost for the clinic is $10 per person and reservations are required. All throughout July, enjoy a fun summer night floating on a tube at the Harbour Town Swimming Pool while watching a movie and eating pizza with your family every Wednesday night from 8-10 p.m. Reservations required and may be made by calling The Sea Pines Resort Recreation Department at (843) 842-1979. Beginning July 5, 2016, sit back, relax and experience the animals and plant life of the Sea Pines Forest Preserve every Tuesday evening from 5-6:30. Enjoy the Sea Pines Forest Preserve while searching for turtles, alligators, birds and other critters as you pass the Heritage Farm, Lake Joe and Fish Island. $17 for adults and $13 for children (ages 12 years and younger). Thursdays HarbourFest isn’t the only fun that Shelter Cove Harbour presents throughout the summer! Each Thursday night, June 16-August 18, Parrot Palooza draws in crowds with island-themed music and entertainment designed for family fun. Beginning at 6 p.m., Parrot Palooza features entertainment, music, food, drinks and more. With the magnificent Shelter Cove sunset as a backdrop, Shannon Tanner and the Oyster Reefers play a live Jimmy Buffet Tribute Show featuring all of your favorite island tunes at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Food, beverages and concessions sold separately. Located mid-island at mile marker 8, across from Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. Beginning July 7, 2016, join us in the Sea Pines Forest Preserve every Thursday for an evening of Lowcountry activities, ghost stories and toasting marshmallows around a campfire. $16 for adults and $11 for children (ages 12 & younger). July 5,12,19 & 26: Live Animal Encounters at the Coastal Discovery Museum, 70 Honey Horn Dr., at 11 a.m. Get an up-close look at Lowcountry wildlife with different animal experts each week. Lowcountry Snakes on June 7, Lowcountry Raptors on June 14, Owls: Creatures of the Night on June 21, Oatland Island Wildlife Center on June 30. $12 per adult and $7 per child ages 5-12. Every Wednesday and Friday during July 2016, learn about the local animal life in Sea Pines with “Nature’s Wild Side.” Children will learn about different animals through educational crafts, which are provided. On June 17 and July 21, 2016, the Palmetto Quilt Guild members, who were awarded ribbons at the March Quilt Festival, will display their award-winning quilts from 1-3 p.m. in the Palmetto Electric Conference Room. This event will be open to the public. For more information, contact (843) 689-1922.

Join the Island Rec. Center as they host Dive-In Movies this summer, the fourth Friday evening of the month, from 5-10 p.m. Float in the pool and watch a movie! There will be special games and activities based on the movie to start off the night. Pizza, popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase. Floats welcome. July 28, Fire’em up and cruise in from 5-8 p.m. at the Shelter Cove Towne Centre every fourth Thursday of the month. This classic car show takes place on Shelter Cove Lane waterside overlooking Broad Creek. No costs, no reservations. There will be awards and a 50/50 raffle. This event is open to all automotive enthusiasts, locals and visitors. Plenty of shopping and dining within a one-two block walk. For more information, go to carolinadreamers.info.
