When was the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar created?

I just found a photo of my grandpa at Disney and he is eating a ice cream bar covered in chocolate. The photo is taken from far enough away that I can't tell if it is Mickey-shaped or if it was just a regular rectangular shaped one. Does anyone know when these were created? It would be awesome to know if he was eating one!

DH lives on these when at WDW. I just asked him and he swears he got a Mickey Ears ice cream on our very first visit in 1978. Of course after so many years of Disney trips memory might not be what it once was......though he insists they were not as plentiful in the parks as they are now, and he definitely had a Mickey ice cream before 1982 when Epcot opened.
