I am having a tough time deciding when to go for the 50th... We have gone in may most trips and love it... so here is the problem

May 2005 will just be kicking off the celebration, (could wait until may 2006 but, that seems soooo long) I would have to take extra time off work to go. but, know I can count on weather, rehabs to be complete, etc.

Sept. 2005 my office is closed so we could not take time off, crowds are low. but, will mansion and small world be closed for holiday make over???

Dec. 2005 is when I think I would like to go... but, is the decorations worth it? I know some of the raft ride at DCA we would steer away from becasue of temp. I would have to take time off. etc.

I guess my question is two fold, are the decorations and "snow" on mainstreet worth missing some of the other favorite things to do in southern california? Second, will things be going down for fall rehab like normal during the celebration years?

Thanks in advance for your info.

Go in May it will be lots of fun. If you go in Late Aug of very early Sept I would think that the rides of concern would still be open and the weather is still nice/hot. If you choose Dec. you can still do the water ride @ DCA. I have seen people that stay @ the GCA and do the River ride and then jump into the pool @ the GCA. If I were still a kid that would be lots of fun. Heck what am I saying I am still a kid ( @ heart) ha ha ha. Sorry I don't think I helped. Good luck with you decision.

p.s. if it wee me i would take extra time off and go in may to be there for the kick off of the 50th.

There are rumors that there will be no HMH next year so you wouldn't have to worry about that being down during Spt. and I think IASW goes down in Oct.

If you went the first couple of weeks in Dec. the crowds will be still be low so it'd be good crowdwise.

I LOVE going during the holidays. The decorations are gorgeous & it's so fun to see all the characters in their holiday best! Plus, there are little extra's like decorating sugar cookies on main street & all of the tasty holiday treats!! It's defintely even more special this time of year!

Plus, if something happens and Nov. ends up being the "for sure" re-opening date for Space Mountain you'll be able to ride that!

When we went last Dec., the day after Christmas, the weather was fine to ride Splash & Grizzly River. You can just always time these rides so that you'll hit the hotel afterwards for a quick change!

I love going during the holidays!

We love going during the holidays. We are planning one for this year.

Just a side note about GRR. I am a WHIMP when it comes to cold weather... and I did GRR in December. I got soaked! I brought a spare change of clothes. We have kids so we were already hauling a stroller ect.

I just rode the ride and changed in the nearest bathroom right afterward. The line was not long at all. And all of the people riding it were really run.

If I decide to do it again, I will remember to take a spare pair of underwear. That is the one thing I forgot in my change of cothes.

thanks for the response, I have always thought it would be fun to see the holiday splender. Does anyone know what the average temp it Dec. is during the day? I am a whimp but, have been known to ride the raft rides very last and then over and over again so I culd make a quick exit to change.

Dec weather in unpredictable. I have no idea what the average Dec temp is (and I live in S CA), but even if someone would be able to give it too you, the actual temp would vary wildly from it. I've gone in Dec and dressed in layers (including thermal underwear--but we S Califonians tend to be wimps where cold is concerned, though I tend to prefer being a bit cold over too hot) and there have been times where I'm quite comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt and still other times when shorts were in order. The average daytime temp is probably in the 60s, though I don't know for sure.
