Hi everyone,
Recently I became a DDE-member, yes with the APdiscount ofcourse :D
but now I have to wait about 6 weeks for my official DDE-card :(
And because we're going to WDW real soon I received a letter to confirm my membership. I have to show this letter to get my 20% discount.
But when do I do that?
Before I order, or when I ask for the bill?
And are there allready people who used such a letter, was it a problem? Or not? You see, many questions, please help me.

Those are good questions. I have one more to tag along here:

How do you get reimbursed for parking, either with the card or the confirmation letter. Thanks!!

When I use my card, I give them the card, along with my debit card or room charge card after I receive my bill.

Are you talking about the valet parking? I don't have any experience doing that. DH won't let anyone drive our vehicles. LOL

I would recommend presenting it right before you are ready to ring up your bill. Otherwise they will have to do it twice. We also insert it with the our method of payment and the server always updates it for us.

Just noticed that there is a thread on parking below.. Good info, as I did not realize that it was only for valet

I agree with this. Generally the server will ask if we are ready for the bill and I will present my card at that time. When the bill is brought I will examine it for correctness and then give the server my credit card.

If the server brings the bill before I give my DDE card, I will then give the DDE card and wait for the corrected bill before presenting my credit card.

lYes, my daughter is using the non resident discount this week.

She only has the emailed letter to show for the disocunt and it's been fine except for once at Primetime. Server didn't know about non residents now being offered the discount. They gave her the discount, tho.

By the time you get there, most cast members should be familiar with the "new rules".

DD just showed her letter (folded like a card with her name showing on top). when she ordered counter service at Pop or AK and when she got the bill for dining table service in the parks.

Have fun, it's a good deal.

I just did this last night! I joined yesterday and Disney emailed me a confirmation letter about 40 minutes later. My son, his g/f and I went to Boma's. First I asked the girls at the desk if they needed to see it and they said no, just show it to your server. I did that as soon as he came over and he said to give it to him when he was going to bring the bill to us. Did that and he had to check it with the manager. Everything worked without a hitch. He brought the letter back with the bill and we got the 20% off.

Oh, and the meal was delicious! ::yes::

I was wondering how your meal went and how it went with your new DDE card, thanks for posting! :)

You are now suppose to make your server aware that you are a DDE card holder when you order your dinner. Just a couple weeks ago our server told us disney just changed their computer system, so it is much easier if they know before hand. If you wait to tell them when they bring the bill, you will have a bit of a wait, the server has to get a manager and they have to fix the bill properly. So, save yourself a headache and let them know right upfront.

We met with a couple at Cape May a few nights ago.
She showed her print out of her DDE e-mail when the server came over. He asked to see her AP. (Just for anyone wondering if they are in the same situation.)
I also produced my DDE card at that time (and flashed my FL dr license).

I always lay the card on the table even before I order, partly so I won't forget! ;)
Sometimes the server takes the DDE card. Sometimes they don't and still give the discount.
Some want to see a driver's license. Some don't.

Thanks for all the information!
This really helps a lot.
I really cannot wait until I will actually be at WDW :)

I just used a letter last weekend without a problem, (only asked for a driver's license one time in 5 meals) and gave it to the server when I asked for the check, I usually told them beforehand though. It does make sense, because most of the servers said they needed to show the letter to their manager, to say something when the server first comes if it saves time.
