I am on CD 31. My last cycle was 33 days. I am feeling a little cramping and some low back discomfort, but i have heard that those can also be symptoms of pregnancy. If i don't get my period by saturday (day 33), should i take a pregnancy test?

Alot of people don't suggest taking a test until like 3 days after your missed af. Just so you can get an accurate result. But there are tests you can buy at the Dollar Tree that are just a dollar and they are very accurate. So if you can't wait until then, I think if you were pregnant, it would come up positive by now and you only waste $1 if it's too early. Good luck!!!

The new tests are very sensitive and can show a +as early as 2 days before your AF is due. When I was trying I couldn't wait to test. I would try soon and I hope it's a + for you.

Anywhere from 8 to 14 or so days after ovulation depending on the sensitivity of the test you chose.

Many women do feel cramping sensations in early pregnancy.

33 days is typically adequate.

I got a BFP on CD 28 when I was PG with Hannah. It was VERY faint, but it was there. I also had very sore breasts, so I was pretty sure it would be positive.

I would say try to wait 14 days past ovulation. Length of cycle won't matter near as much as when you usually ovulate. Depending on the person, someone with a longer cycle won't ovulate until CD20 instead of CD14. The phase after ovulation usually doesn't vary that much from month to month for a given person. I tested positive on CD28, and it was about 18DPO at the time. Just as an FYI I am a hater of First Response. The dye in their tests is horrid (3 tests came back so faint I thought I wasn't pregnant). I much prefer the digitals. In short, I wouldn't test just yet, but it is true cramping is possible with pregnancy. It was with mine :)

You are going to make us wait til saturday? That stinks, I feel cheated!

Just kidding ;). Is 33 days a normal cycle for you, or was your last cycle longer than usual? I would take one now, but I am impatient like that. The tests are so accurate, so early now.

Anyone else remember the earlier tests that were taken 7 days after a missed period AND you had to use a beaker full of pee (that had to remain perfectly still for an accurate result) AND wait 30 minutes for the results? That is the type of test we used when I was pregnant with my first, LOL.

Personally I would probably wait a little longer so the pregnancy hormone would become stronger and give me a more accurate reading, but I can understand the anticipation!

When you do decide to test, use your first morning urine right after you wake up; it has the strongest concentration of the pregnancy hormone.

if you are on a 33 day cycle, honestly I'd wait until day 34 or 35, of even a few days more if you can stand it. I just think they are expensive to waste, but if you have a few and want to go for it, just make sure to use your first morning urine and if you are pg, you might have enough of the hormone to detect.

if you are looking for a recommendation for a test, I loved first response. I used it for both pregnancies. with my first, we were surprised (weren't trying yet) and I took a test I would say 3 days late (normally a 26 day cycle, so day 29). with my 2nd pregnancy, I knew I was pg. I never have heartburn, except when I was pg with my first, and about 4 or 5 days before my period was due, I had heartburn. I had a test in the house so went ahead and did it the next morning and sure enough, positive. now, I ended up with twins so not sure if the added hormones helped get the positive so early.

hope you get the answer you want!

Thank you all very much. i appreciate all of your help. my cycle is starting to get back to normal. I was on the BCP for 11 years and recently came off in September of 2006. So, each month my cycle gets a little shorter. Hopefully i'm pregnant this month and i won't have to worry about my cycle for a while...:goodvibes

And think about using a cup to collect the urine instead of holding the test in your urine stream. First thing in the morning, I had to pee really badly, and I could not wait to get the test out of the package. Plus the pee shot everywhere! :rotfl:

Yes, I peed in a little cup too on the second pregnancy test because I couldn't hold it under the urine stream very well on the first one; pee was getting everywhere! Then I kept thinking, "but what if I AM pregnant but it's just not showing because it wasn't held under a steady urine stream for long enough?" :rotfl: It gave me peace of mind to first collect it in a cup!
