When to sign up for 10K?

I'm sorry if this is already discussed somewhere, but nothing came up in the search. If we are thinking of doing the Thor 10k on November 11th, how soon do registrations fill up?

As soon as possible. Until this year the races were selling out in minutes. They made registrations earlier, which has seemed to help. Or maybe they've reached saturation, it's hard to say. But the 10Ks are the most popular, and once they reveal the medals, they'll likely sell out. And with the indefinite hold on the SW race registration, even though it's 3 months earlier than last year, I think some people might start to register for other open races.

Thanks, I don't want to book a race for a trip that we don't take. Is there any way to see how many are available?

I don't think so anymore. The old system showed percentages, but it looks like they've stopped that. If it does sell out you could probably still get a bib through a travel provider for a few days. You usually have to book 2 night at a hotel or buy a park ticket, but if you're paying for either of those anyway, the upcharge for the bib isn't too outrageous. I have a feeling that they might offer deals on some open races at the races in April and May and that will also possibly lead to a sellout.

I wish there was an option to buy insurance for $100+ bibs, but runDisney refuses. Local races are $30-45, I could register and not do 3 for less than 1 runDisney race. And now they're moving registration to 10 months before the race, where with local races the cheaper price often holds until 60-90 days before the race. Maybe if runDisney had a vastly super product, but they don't.

Thanks for the details, we're hoping to book in the next week. I just get nervous wasting money if something changes.

They don't release how many bibs are available or even indicate current sales. It goes from available to sold out.

If you're unsure of the trip, it is a pricey investment to register for a race you may not go to. There are no refunds or deferrals (which is common for most races despite how much people complain about runDisney doing it). There are travel providers that often have some bibs left closer to the race day if you want to wait. Charities as well.

Honestly, though, I register the second early registration opens for passholders for the race weekends I do. They may be starting to sell out slower, but some of the weekends are still more popular than others. But I know I'm going to go.

Usually it's the 10Ks that go first. It's a very popular distance and all race weekends have a portion of the 10K bibs dedicated to challenge bibs so the available bibs for just the 10K are fewer than the actual number that will be running.

Another thing, many people who have done Super Hero's in the past know that this is the week it usually opens. It opened much earlier this year. I would try and not delay any more than you have to.
