Our first trip home is scheduled for August 31. As non-DVC members in the past we have always purchased our park tickets when we booked our rooms.

Now as DVC members (:cool1: ), is it better to purchase tickets when we arrive in Disney or should we purchase them now by another means.

Thanks for your thoughts on the best way to purchase tickets!!

Can't answer your specific question, but wanted to remind you that DVC members get a significant discount off an Annual Pass. Depending on how frequently and how long you are going for in a year, the AP might be your best ticket choice.

Also, if you sign up for the Mousesavers newsletter, there are discounted (reputable) tickets available for subscribers.

It really makes no difference when you purchase your tickets. You can buy them from an authorized discounter via the internet, or purchase them when you arrive at the resort. Even if you pre-purchase them, they can be added onto your room key if you don't want to carry keys and tickets. Just present your unused tickets and your room keys at the concierge desk in the lobby of your resort. Note that Annual Passes must remain separate, and can not be added to room keys. Also the hotel concierge does not handle the APs, you have to go to guest service at DtD or at one of the parks.

Just make sure you watch the news here on the DIS boards for any rate increases. Some times the increases are significant enough to warrant purchasing the tickets early.:cool1:

the last time we went to WDW we were told you get a discount if you purchase online. we had to pay a higher price at the resort.
we just got back from Disneyland last night and there the prices are the same online or at hotel or at the park.
Hope this helps you.:cool1:

AAA also has discounted tickets. They are a maximum of 5 days, but can easily be upgraded. If you are an AAA member and charge the tickets on your AAA credit card you can save even more $.

My DH just upgraded a 5 day parkhopper to a DVC AP for an additional $115 and change.

One quick note about this, you CAN NOT put tickets purchased with a military discount on your room keys. I think that this is the only type that can't be added, and it seems to have something to do with the fact that tickets purchased this way do not include sales tax.

I have a feeling that this will not apply to the OP, but thought it might be applicable to others out there. :goodvibes

Have a great day! Jennie

We buy our tickets through the Mousesavers link (I think we used undercover tourist the last time. We bought the 10 day no exp and they threw in 6 water park visits. Apparently when they feel the urge they will give you extra days or minor park admissions for free. We have made up a label which we put on the ticket and use this to keep track of the days as we use them. Buying them ahead of time means it's just one less thing you have to do when you get to WDW.

I bought my family's tickets for a 2009 trip last year from UT (with the mousesavers discount) before the August 1 price increase.
