When to make ADRs

Ok, probably a super-simple question, but...I know ADRs can be made 180 days ahead of time. My question is--does the 180 days refer to the start of our trip, or (I'm guessing more likely) 180 days before the actual date of reservation? In which case, it sounds as though we should plan to make ADRs pretty much every day starting 180 days before day 1 of the trip?

180 days starts the first day of your trip. At that time you can book your first day plus up to 10 additional days.

Thanks for asking this question! Is it best to call to make the ADRs or to use the website?

only if you are staying on disney property. if off site you will have to make your ADRs separately (example you can make ADRs for July 21 today, but if you were also trying to get something on the 22nd you would have to do those tomorrow.

It's a matter of personal preference. I'd much rather control the situation myself and look online, but there are others who prefer to call.

Thanks for the clarification. We've never stayed off property so I always forget about this nuance

Only if you are staying onsite. If you are offsite you have to do it one day at a time.

Opinions different on whether to book online or by phone. I do both. Go online at 6:00 EST and book what I can. Then if ( or more realistically, WHEN) the online site glitches, I phone to make the rest at 7:00.. BTW I recommend using the website over the app for this. It's less glitchy ( which isn't saying much).

You can begin to make ADR's online at 6 am EST 180 days prior to check-in. 7 am EST if calling. So, I prefer to do it online as you get first dibs!

Is there a "plug in" calendar that will give you the exact date you can begin making ADR's? I remember years ago there used to be one, or do we just do it the old fashioned way and count 180 days before arrival?

I was thinking that, too? I'm trying to remember to when we went for our first trip in 2012, and I had everything online--maybe there was something that said "X number of days until you can make ADRs?" Am I just being hopeful?

MDE will show you how many days out you are. :)
