When to go up to Hollywood and Santa Monica

We will be driving up to Hollywood and Santa Monica and i'm not sure if we should go late morning on a Friday or a Saturday. What would be better with the traffic? I know I want to miss Friday morning rush.

I am taking the same trip into LA & Santa Monica on my up coming California vacation. I wanna know too, as I have been wondering if I should go week day or weekend.

Well, you probably will have more traffic on a Friday, but it will be way more crowded on a Saturday. I live in LA, and both Hollywood and Santa Monica are mobbed on the weekends. It's really hard to enjoy Grauman's, the Walk of Fame, etc when there are too many people. A weekday starting early morning is best if you can swing it.
