been having a terrible time deciding between Dl and WDW. we have been to WDW several times and just have 6 total days this time for a trip(that includes travel days) so now seriously leaning towards DL this year

now we need to decide dates

anytime between end of Nov and up to Christmas..our main requirements, we HATE any type of crowd. we usually go to WDW in sept with walk on rides. we are never up early, never make a rope drop etc..our other big concern for this trip is cheap

so what dates work good for cheap and no crowds at DL and yet get to see and do most of what DL has? (like low ride closures etc..) and would like a chance for holiday stuff

oh, there is 2 adults 3 kids all 12 yrs old this time..we aren't into character meals like some, we do like the shows

If you have 6 days and went first week of Decmber I think it would be good, anytime after Tday really. Xmas stuff should be up by then.

You can easily spend 3 days at the parks and then check out Newport Beach, San Diego, LA, etc.

With an older child I would check out the Getty Museum/Malib location my favorite or the other is cool too, San Diego Wild Animal Park and then 3 days of parks.

6 days is not enough for me in Florida since I also like Cape Canaveral, water parks, Universal, etc. but 6 days would seem relaxing in So Cal.

Hotels are not as grand as in Florida, but there are many deals to be had and the parks are close by each other which makes touring a breeze.

Have fun!

The raffles kids suite looks perfect for us

I went thru getawaytoday.com and 3 day hoper and kid suite for 5 nights is $1526. which sounds reasonable to me

our dates Dec 7-12th

my questions are

I assume I can upgrade my tickets to 5 days if I want when I get there? no big savings prebooking that?

also was considering the city pass or some other tickets..any reason i should book those thru getaway or can I get them separately just as cheaply?

not sure yet what else we will do

also figured on rentng a car..may be cheaper than the other transport options from the airport etc.. when you figure we are 5 people. Hubby is a trucker so CA traffic won't intimidate him.

anyones thoughts?

also when you book thru getaway, do you pay a deposit and then balance at check in?

With getawaytoday you pay all of it at once. At least that is the way I have always done it. Although, I think they might have a payment option now. Also you can change the 3 day passes to 5 day passes on their website. You don't have to upgrade or change them at DLR. Sooo much easier to do it all at once. And if you get in the day before you are actually going to DL you can always pick up your tickets at the ticket booths that day and then you are ready for the next day to just get in line at the turnstiles. It can save a lot of aggravation and time that first morning.
