I'm going to an event/convention that takes place July 1-7th at the Swalphin. I will be flying from Buffalo to MCO and am flexible on the days but I do have to arrive no later than June 30th. We will be staying after for several days to relax. Our max length of stay could be 14 days but I think we are looking more in the 11 day range.

So my question is....
What is everyones opinion about buying airfare in the next month? What kind of fares could I see? SW releases my dates on Nov 14th. The last time we were there the first week of July we drove down as we had a ton of stuff that was needed at the convention. I do recall though that flights never really got much better than $99 each way for that week and that was in 2008.

So what info do you all have about flying at that time period?????

I have found over the years that 6 months in advance has great prices, then 3 to 3 1/2 months in advance is next best for prices.. after that the time of flight choices are not so good.. either very early in the morning departures or arrival times late at night.. neither of which is great for me but some may like it. Check daily for your favorite airline/airport.. Check flexable dates - sometimes you can do better by adjusting your dates to fly by one day. Kayak.com and Yapta.com will keep track of the flights/dates that you need and give you emails for when/if the price goes down. I always fly Delta out of Detroit.. I find it best to check their website for prices rather than Orbitz or whatever. hope this helps..

Never heard it called the "swalphin" before. Very cute. My opinion would be to hang on until southwest releases on the 14th.

I'm definitely not booking before the 14th....really just looking for some opinions on fares for July. What might I see?

I'm very experienced with finding the deals....so I know all the sites to stalk. I guess it sort of sounds like I haven't been on a trip since 2008. I actually travel several times per year....just haven't booked a flight to MCO in July for many years and back then budget was as big as issue as it is now. Now I'm paying for 4...years ago it was for 2.
