When to book

We have never been to universal and we are excited to stay a few days for spring break! (April 5-7) We really want to stay where we can get the express pass. The least expensive standard room is $404/night right now. Are there usually discounts over spring break? Should we book now and can we apply any discounts that come up? Who should we book through. Orbitz had 20% off but their starting price was $454. What is the normal price over a peak time? Any help is much appreciated!
