When taking Magical Express do your bags go on the bus you take?

The morning my family & I checked out of the Contemporary we were by the front entrance fixing up our bags into my Dad's Jeep. It was just before 7:30 AM when I saw a Magical Express bus drive up. I saw quite a number of people getting of & I was wondering something. The bags you have the Cast Members from DME pick up for you at Orlando International Airport, are they sent on the same bus or sent another way? When I saw these people get off they all went inside & did not stick around to find out any information about thier checked bags. I know they are supost to get them 3 hours later, but after seeing this just curious how the process works with bags arriving at the Resorts?

No, your bags aren't on the bus you ride on. They come in a separate vehicle (truck of some sort, I'm guessing). They are sorted out at the airport and sent on to their final destination.

Thanks for the information. Can anyone else who has taken DME before also go into more detail, because I like to learn new things when it comes to anything Walt Disney World.

Someone wrote a long description about this and perhaps he will put a link here. Basically luggage with ME tags may be pulled right outside the plane or may be pulled behind the wall at the carousel area, Baggage is sorted somewhat at the airport according to resort, and put on trucks to go to Disney.

Since you usually beat the yellow tagged luggage to the resort, it is wise to have a carry-on (or a piece of checked baggage with no yellow tag you fetch yourself from the carousel). In it would be swimsuits and other things you want to use right away and for the first night. This goes "under the bus".

A long time ago I worked in a department store where there were other stores of the same name in other towns (like almost all large department stores nowadays). Merchandise sent from one store to each other store was first segregated in cages that would each almost fill a pickup truck rear. The description the other person gave for the ME sorting at the airport mentioned a similar method. Late at night with fewer arriving guests, I suspect ME might use "shared cages" such as for both Port Orleans resorts with final sorting at the resorts.
