When staying at FW, what are you allowed/not allowed to do at other resorts?

Oh Man, there are lots of things you can do....
1. You can go to one of the water parks one day. That won't be as expensive as going to one of the theme parks.
2. You can catch the boat from the Ft. and go over and bum around at Wilderness Lodge. Get back on the boat and go over to the Contemporary, spend some time there, then get on the resort monorail and ride and explore the Poly and Grand Floridian.
3. Drive over to Port Orleans Riverside, catch the boat and ride to Downtown Disney for the afternoon, then take the boat back.
4. Drive over or take transportation to the Boardwalk and explore the shops, then take a boat across the lake to Beaches and Cream for ice cream. I've heard the "Kitchen Sink" is pretty good.
5. Drive out to Disney's Nature Preserve. We have never done this, but it sounds interesting if you have a car to get there.

Just some ideas.....

Duane

Also ...

1. Minature Golf, not too expensive
2. Watch MK fireworks from the beach at the Poly

BTW never heard of the "Nature Preserve" can someone point me to a link having info on that one ... too lazy to look it up right now.

I'd never heard about it either, Larry..but after looking it up...it seems like a nice afternoon ......Disney's Wilderness Preserve

Wow great ideas! We're easily amused, too (with a 5 and 3 year old, thank goodness), so all of these ideas could make us happy.

If you do go to AKL, they also offer free tours and activities for kids. I've done the Art Tour (which is really geared to adults, not kids) where they take you around the lobby and seating areas and tell you about all the authentic African artwork. It's very interesting. I've also done the culinary tour, which is excellent because you get free food! You get shown around both Jiko and Boma, get a little presentation from the chefs and learn about some of the more unusual foods offered, and get samples of an appetizer and a dessert (not sure if it's the same every time, but we got the "tastes of africa" sampler appetizer at Jiko, and the zebra domes at Boma). I also saw kids doing some crafts. Well worth going for, and you don't have to be staying at the hotel to participate.

The Yacht Club also shows movies at night on the beach, not sure if that has been posted in here yet. At least they were doing it a few months ago...

Port Orleans- Riverside - has a piano player/ singer in the lounge and another sing a long and campfire at night

Carie has a good one here, this is something Beth and I love to do. He plays an old fashioned honky tonk piano, and it's good for the whole family. He really involves the kids, but a lot of the songs adults get into as well. It's great to sit at the bar and just look at all the fun, he's a great entertainer!

Brad, that is not off topic, everything he listed is about the fort and disney. :lmao:
I guess I've got to quit trying to be funny, I just don't have Rog's delivery. And this IS off topic.

LOL...no Brad....your comment had PERFECT TIMING...and was delivered with style....John was agreeing with you that as sick and ridiculous as Jims comment was....it was ALL DISNEY related!!! You definately have made me literally Laugh Out Loud several times!!

Teresa, how did you find out about that one, I would love to do it. at what time did they offer it?

Ms. Sundee is now at the sing a long/activity thingy at SSR now. At least I think it may involve some sort of sing a long. I have no idea. I just know she is now at SSR. And I know there is bingo!

Tell me this isn't true!!! My girls are looking forward to our first night in September going to see her at FW. When did she leave, or is she doing both? I don't remember reading anything here in recent months! I love my pictures of the girls with Ms.Sundee!!:sad1:

I believe it started at 4:00 - I know it was about an hour before the restaurants opened, and by the time we were done, both were open and people were arriving. The tours and activities are normally posted on notice boards - there was one notice board in the main lobby, and one near the washrooms outside Boma/Jiko. I think I checked at the "guest relations" desk and they told me where to wait for the tour, and there were probably about 10 of us by the time it started. Definitely worth doing!

Hey, I was being serious.

It is so true. She left the bike barn in March to move to SSR. She is not doing both. I am not sure why she left the bike barn.

What do you mean you're not sure? This from the person who has her in speed dial? I personally plan to go over to SSR and have a word with her in the not too far future. She dropped us like a hot potato and I'm gonna find out why lol.

Seriously though when I found out she wasn't there back in April my DD was pretty sad. Just like River Country and the train, another great has left. Hopefully she'll change her mind soon. Not gonna mention any names but the "OTHER" person at the campfire is about as friendly as a corpse. We were riding bikes in the 1400 loop on our last trip and she passed us in her cart and almost clipped us. Didn't even say hey. The campfire sing a long IMO stinks now that Sundee is gone. The nerve of how someone treats the Dis'er formally known as the Dis'er who met the most Dis'ers.:rotfl2:
