When Stalking the "Perfect" resale contract, what do you give in on?

When push comes to shove, what do you give in on and make an offer?

You have the resort you like. The use year. The number of points on the contract you desire. The points available for use at purchase. The price per point. But nothing in this world is ever PERFECT.

My spouse and I do NOT have addonitis... YET .... But we have discussed looking for add on contracts. I picked UY - but I have the feeling that if we found a 150 point contract instead of that 100 point we talk about my spouse would be fine if I grabbed it....

If the price is right I’d take a stripped contract but UY is not negotiable. I’d go 25 points over or under if it’s a contract I want too. I love all the resorts so it just depends on what I’m looking for at the time.

I think they are all connected in some way.

Example if points were $0/point then I could give up on the rest. If BWV was 5x the cost of SSR then I might have been more likely to buy SSR.

When I was search I had parameters for everything with price being probably the most key thing out of it all but it wasn't about just the lowest but I still took in to account the other stuff. I would pay more for RIV/BWV/BCV then I would for AKV as an example.

I felt like I waited a long time (but not really) for that perfect contract to come along. For me, the resort and UY was non-negotiable. I was also okay to +/- 25 points to my ideal small contract I was looking for but I really didn't want a whole lot more extra points that now I would be paying MF yearly. Too low of points would also mean I may have to pay another closing cost. So when I saw the perfect # of points and correct UY, I didn't care that it was stripped and that I was paying more. In hindsight it doesn't seem to matter anymore because the price has continued to climb and my price doesn't seem like an outlier anymore. I waited about 1.5 months and lost 1 "perfect" contract because I didn't bid full price and so I learned to jump the next time around.

I agree. I am also quite specific. I don't mind overpaying to get the contract i want.

Me too. I paid $150 in summer for BLT when others were getting and passing less. But it was exactly what I wanted and had banked 2018, 2019, and all 2020 points!

Of course, I regret not spending more for direct points but I figure next year I’ll solve that problem and just buy then!

Im probably going to get another 200 direct points, just so I can future proof with RIV and any new resorts. But I'm still torn between SSR for cost and RIV. Its just those resale restrictions......... I have 155 already BLT direct.

Get a guaranteed week for RIV for a stand studio and you can always use them as regular points but it would be attractive to resell. Weeks 48-52 are perfect for this.

Thanks. I had never thought of that........ In terms of pricing, is it kind of the same?

Price is the same but you have a 10% point penalty but with the way the reallocation went my week is the same as if I booked it myself not with a fixed week. I own #52 in a standard studio and it’s 196 points. They create the point cost for the fixed week when the resort first goes on sale, not what the point cost for that week is when you buy.

ex. It may be 100 points for a studio the first week of September to book on your own, but if you bought it as a fixed week it would a 110 point contract used to book that week every year ahead of time. If you decide not to use the week you have use of all 110 points though. They are only allowed to sell so many so it makes it stand out for resale especially when you can only stay at RIV.

I am only looking for OKW extended but will not pay the $139 - 141s. that are out there.

All I can say is if it's the perfect contact, than you wouldn't have to give in on anything, that's what perfect means. Else it's not a perfect contract :). Just Saying... LOL!!!

But in all seriousness, UY doesn't bother me... Resort and price matters most.

Great3

I voted price but number of points also has some leeway as would take a slightly larger contract up to 50 if everything else was good.
