We are leaving on Oct 13th from London, England, and I would like some advice on when to order my DDE card.

Is it posted out to you, or can you order it and do a "will call" like I have done with my MNSSHP tickets? I know they post them, but international shipping is $10, so Id rather collect them if possible.

I heard that it is activated from the day you buy it, rather than the day you use it, is that true?

Can you buy one in resort /park, ready to go?

Thanks!

Allie

you can not buy them at the parks. i would order it now. the expiration date is not based on first time use and not necessarily when you order it. it must be when the order it filled. we ordered ours in february, but the expiration date is april, 2006. when you order i would ask about picking it up at the "will call" window. good luck! :earboy2:

Are the DDE cards really worth it? Do you get your money's worth?

It is for me, as I am staying in WDW for 3 weeks in August :)
I expect to save at least $300 if not more :)

Allie - I keep hearing you can get a letter faxed to your resort in lieu of an actual card? I've not ordered my DDE yet - am leaving it for as long as possible so it might cover some of my August 06 trip!

Thanks Disney Queen, I think I will order it sooner rather than later!

Lumpy, I think whether they are worth it or not is dependant on how many WDW restaurants you plan to eat in! We have a 3 week trip booked, and it will be used most everyday hence for us, will be well worth it! I may even squeeze in a second use if we go back next year!

Edited to add...thanks Karen, your post snuck in as I replied :teeth: . I will give them a call methinks!

ours was totally worth it! we got back our purchase price at 3 sit down meals an then saved about $100 over that. this was one visit for one week staying at POP (so the card was gooed at the food court)

I called on June 23, the letter was postmarked June 25, and I had the letter by June 27 via USPS. I do not expect to receive my card before we leave for WDW on 7/20, but that's okay. I'll have it in time for our 2/06 trip.

The letter states that my membership is valid through July 31, 2006 and that my letter is valid through July 31, 2005 (so, I suspect I'll have my card by the end of the month). The letter also says: The Disney Dining Experience Membership card is valid for 1 year, the validation period starts the day the order is placed.

Hope this helps.

if you have an AP it is $50 an if you are a florida resident it is $75 (and then $60 to renew). I am not sure but someone can post the link and phone #. I called the number after I read it on here

We're just back from a last minute trip we decided to take. I ordered my DDE card on 06/22 and told them we were arriving on 06/23. On 06/23 we picked the cards up at Epcot Guest Relations with no problem. It looks like they don't give you a letter anymore, they are actual cards that say Temporary Membership Card. None of the restaurants had any problem accepting them. They have an expiration date of 08/14/05 on them, but I'll hopefully have the permanent cards before that, since we're going back in October for MNSSHP.
I would say they are definitely worth the money. I didn't save the $50.00 cost yet, but I'm sure we will in October. princess:
