When Should I go This Spring to Avoid Crowds?

My husband and I are bringing our 4 children to Universal for a few days over spring break. I know that I won't be avoiding crowds then! I am thinking about bringing our 4yo down another time this spring to spend a couple of days at Universal and a few at WDW.

I can be very flexible with when I go--pretty much any time in February-May. I know the week before and after spring break is out, along with President's Day weekend. When else should I avoid. Some schools have spring break in March. Is that usually the third week of March or does it vary?

Also, I want the weather to be warm without being hot. So I guess that would mean not too early in Feb or too late in May. What do you all think?

I suppose that I should also post this in the WDW area.

Thanks,

Tampa and Orland public schools have spring break March 22-26.
Both Orlando and Tampa are off Friday April 9th, and Monday April 12th.
Orlando is also off on March 12th for a teacher workday.

If it we're me, I'd come down the week of March 15th thru March 19th.

And then you need to keep listening for news of when the Mummy ride will open. If it opens in March, and you come that week, I'm sure USF will be packed, but then you might get your ride.

I realized after posting that my Universal annual passes expire in April (duh, what was I thinking? lol). So early-mid March isn't too crowded? Any idea what the height restriction on the Mummy ride will be? I'm really hoping it will be open by early April since that's when we'll be there with all the kids, but it doesn't really matter for when I bring my 4yo since he probably won't be tall enough, anyway.

I'll try to do a search to find out when other spring breaks are. If the search still isn't working I'll reask the question if I can't find the thread.

According to the Orange County Schools web site their spring break is March 15th-19th.

Hillsborough County Schools web site shows their spring break is March 22nd-26th.

I'm sure other surrounding counties will vary.

Try http://www.fldoe.org/districtcalendar/ to view Florida County Schools calendars.

Which county is Orlando and Tampa? -Orange I assume. Which area is Hillsborough county? I would think some of these folks would go elsewhere for spring break since they can go year round to the parks but maybe I'm wrong. We'll be there 3/20-3/26 and I just plan to go early and if it's too crowded -head back to the pool for awhile and try again later in the day. That's what our friends did a few years back-same spring break. They said to hit the popular rides first though!! We are staying at HRH for FOTL!!!

I'm sorry.

Orange = Orlando
Hillsborough = Tampa
Osceola = Kissimmee
Seminole = Altamonte (N. Orlando)
Duval = Jacksonville
Clay = Orange Park
St. Johns = St. Augustine
Leon = Tallahassee
Escambia = Pensacola

Where are you located in Alabama? We're in Montgomery.

Lee County is off on 3/15 and do not return till the 23rd... I plan on going that week also... I think it may very well be crowded then... not like summer or acutal holidays but more than usual.

Early-mid March.

And no word yet on Mummy's height requirement or AP preview dates.

Wow, I printed my calendar when the school year started, glad you caught that. I'll have to reprint my calendar. Actually, the one I was using was for Osceola.

Well, if spring break for Orlando is March 15th thru the 19th, and Tampa is the 22nd to the 26th, then I'd come the week of March 8th thru the 12th before both of them.
