We have been only to Disney once, when we went, we walked up, did not purchase in advance... anyways, When I reserve or should I say make our reservations, will my cebit card be charged the full amount, partial or not at all until we show up on day 1?

I know hotels all differ.

Thanks,

Ken

Depends on the type of reservation. On a room only reservation you will be charged 1 night up front. The remainder will be charged at check in. You can cancel up until the day before check in with no penalty.

On a "package" you have a deposit and the remainder is required prior to check in (45 days IIRC). There is a penalty if you cancel within the 45 days before check in.

Always ask if they are making a room only or package reservation. A package can be something as simple as the site plus trip insurance as trip insurance is always included in a package. You can ask that it be removed, but they set up up that way from the beginning.

You can call AAA Travel and at no charge they will make your reservation for you. You will be required to pay one nights camping at the fort and you can make payments (if its a long time before your trip to the fort) or else pay the rest when you arrive...You can call six or seven months ahead of time and be all paid up by the time you arrive..Hope this helps

Actually, if you make a room only reservation you can do all of this directly with Disney.

I'm not sure if it's within a 14 or 21 day period of your stay, but if you make a room only reservation within that period they will charge you the full amount instead of the one night deposit.

Incorrect. A room only reservation requires only a first night's stay for the deposit. The card will be charged immediately and the remaining amount will be due at the time of checkin.

A package requires a $200 deposit if booked outside of 45 days. At the 45 day mark the remaining amount is due in full. If purchasing tickets this is extremely useful if someone does not want the insurance ($66.95 per adult- 18 or older and under 18 are free) since the cancellation fee inside the 45 days is only $200 as opposed to buying "hard" (non-refundable, non-transferable) tickets that you might be stuck with. Most people cancel for good reasons and those reasons can often mean a $1000 in tickets can be better allocated to other things like those reasons. It seems like a lot at first but the chances of cancellation in most situations are within a few day to a week prior. If you cancel a room only reservation within five days prior to arrival you are not only out the first night but also the tickets you can't use until you manage to reschedule if at all. Its different for all families and really its based on what fits you best. :goodvibes

The courtesy holds are as follows: packages outside of 45 days can have a 7 day hold but the full amount will be due at the 45 day mark regardless. Room only reservations outside of 30 days have the same. 30-15 days a 24 hour hold is available and inside the two weeks prior will require the first night in order to book at all. Hope this helps. Have a wonderful trip!

I do like the idea of "making payments" anyone else ever use this option through AAA?

You can pay .33 cents a day for all they care. $200 to book a package and the remaining is due 45 days prior. With or without AAA. A travel agent who tells you otherwise is using their own policy and not Disney's.
