When renting home/villa do you negotiate or accept initial offer?

Just wondering if when renting a house or villa people are successful negotiating the price or do you accept the initial offer?

yes, I always negotiate. But I choose one home and ask for a discount, that's t. But I only do it if I am ready to book.

I have used globalresorthomes.com and we always ask if there are any specials or discounts when we book, but we make sure we know the house we want to book first.
