When meeting the same character for second (or third) time...

Do you (or your children) only get an autograph the first time you meet a character? Or do you get an autograph each time, even though it's the same character?

I just wonder because I am debating what to do! We got autograph books that have a space for a photo next to each autograph! So I lind of want a new autograph even if it's the same character, since then I can match the pic from that experience. For example, Chef Mickey and also "regular" Mickey.

So give me your experiences and opinions! :)

We went in September with our 3 year old (she turned 4 in October, just for reference). The plan in my mind was to just get one Mickey autograph, for example. We would visit and do pics with the others. We only did autograph books purchased at WDW. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans.... DD LOVED seeing characters, but she also wanted every one of them to sign her book, regardless of if we had seen them before or not. So we just let her lead. We ended up with multiple autographs from various characters and we ended up buying two books, and truly needed a third. We did find some characters handled this better than others. For example, when we saw the second Cinderella, she put kiss prints (her lipstick) on the page with the original Cindy autograph because we had just had breakfast at the castle.

In the end it all worked out fine, as we just put the pic with that particular character in the book. Next trip I am thinking we might try to do a photo mat for restaurants and books for parks but I'm undecided yet.

We get our autographs on index cards, so we just did one every time we saw the character. We put the first one in the autograph scrapbook, and any duplicates in our Disney scrapbook.

My son gets the autograph each time. He loves Chip & Dale and I think he got 3 or 4 on our last trip. The only one that didn't re-sign was Chip who recognized us from a few days earlier and flipped through the book to find where he had already singed. That was pretty cool!

We usually only do the first time. Last trip we only got sigs for the handful of characters we didn't meet 10 months earlier.

I doubt on this upcoming trip we will get many, not sure, I need to ask the girls what they think.

On our past trips DD had the characters sign her autograph book each time she met them. One year we had to buy another book because she filled one up meeting so many characters. Last time she had them sign card stock (4X6 size) that she had decorated with stickers of each character. Then we got home we put them in a scrapbook with the pictures taken. She had so many that we had to buy 2 scrapbooks because they wouldn't all fit in one. Not sure if she'll want to get autographs again on our next trip.

First time only. In fact, for the most part, we don't even bother with a M&G if it's a character I've already got an autograph from.

First time only. We like to see the characters more than once, especially if they're wearing a different costume such as Mickey in his overalls at Garden Grill, his "regular" outfit at Epcot, etc. We see them again for the experience and pictures, but we don't see a need for another autograph by the same character.

We originally didn't plan to get Memory Maker, and planned 2 character meals so we wouldn't have to wait in lines to meet characters. However, now I want to get my money's worth with MM, since we did wind up getting it! Not sure we will still do many M&Gs, but it's more of an option now!

Oh I totally understand. I just don't have the patience to wait in lines for M&G. The only ones we do are the ones we stumble on that have very minimal lines. One of the best ones we did was stopping in to meet Tink (who I don't care for much) at the very very end of MNSSHP as the park was emptying. There was only our group and another family in line, so i figured why not? It was AWESOME. Tink was actually a LOT of fun and kind of changed my mind about her as a character LOL.

Also got in to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy after Illuminations during EMH with practically nobody there.

The first trip we got it each time, after spending $$$ on autograph books(4 autograph books each x 3 kids) we decided the next trip to only do the first time.
