When Is Your Kids Fall Break From School?

I didn't even know schools had Fall breaks! I haven't heard of this in Iowa schools anyway. It's usually a day or two at Thanksgiving. That's interesting.

Florida schools (or at least our county) just started this a few years ago. I love it! We usually go to Disney during our Fall Break. Crowdwise, it is starting to pick up, but no where near the crowds of Spring Break. Last year, almost every kid my DD was close to was going to Disney the same time as us. I was very nervous about the crowds. I figured it that many people I knew were going, what about the rest of the country? Turned out, it wasn't too bad, and amazingly, we never ran into a soul we knew.

We had to cancel our June trip, so we rebooked for Oct. during the kids fall break. They will have to miss a couple of days of school, but I figure with it being only a 2 day week, they won't do much in class anyway. I never had a fall break when I was a kid!

Our school in Michigan doesn't have such a break. We have the traditional Thanksgiving and the day after and the 1st day of Hunting Season, November 15. Maybe that's a great time to go.

We don't get a break in Oct..
However our kids get out the last full week of Sept. every year for the county fair.
Guess when we go to WDW?!

We have the 7th and 10th off.

My kids are out of school for the first 2 weeks of October.

Our schedule has been this way since 1998. Love it!

We do not have week long fall breaks.

I live in NC no fall break here either, the kids are out on COlumbus day. We are however going to Disney OCtober 1-8 as my dh will be just home from Iraq after being there for 7 months.

In Missouri we did not have a fall break either, at most we got a four day weekend in November for teacher confences.

Until I started reading these boards I had no clue people had fall or February breaks.

Here in Wisconsin, they have a state-wide teacher's convention yearly in Oct. It is always right before Halloween and the kids have off Wed.-Fri. for this. The last 2 years, we've pulled the kids out the other 2 days and gone to WDW! The crowds and weather were fantastic and it is so much fun to trick-or-treat at Disney.

This year, we are taking advantage of the free dining and going in late Aug. as our schools also don't start until after Labor Day (state law).

I'm actually trying to talk my husband into going in Oct. too as we bought 10 day no expiration park tickets and so that part of our next trip will be paid for

You can never have too much Disney, right?

Fall Break? you've got to be kidding! For what?
We already get Labor Day, Election Day, 2 days at Thansgiving,7 days at Christmas and a full week at easter.... Why on Earth would they need a break in October, schools barely begun???

shelby_36 I think some schools go year round (hence a fall break), I have noticed a lot of people here on the Dis have children who start the first week of August, and some schools have more of a 3 months on two weeks off kind of a schedule.

Here in MN our shcools have an MEA break. MEA this year is Oct 20-21. I know a lot of people pull thier children out for the whole week and head to WDW.

Ok, here we start very late August..I couldn't imagne giving the kids a vacation after a few weeks.

Many of the schools that have gone to a year-round schedule have a break during the fall, usually around the first or second week in October. We are in Memphis, TN and our school always starts around the 15th of August. We are on a 9 week semester schedule and there's always a 2-3 day break at the end of the first 9 weeks. This year that break is on the 13th, 14th and Monday the 17th of October. And yes, we'll be in WDW!

In NJ we have off November 10 + 11 for a teachers convention but most families take the kids out for the whole week. Lots of Jersey folk in WDW from 11/5 through 11/13.

Actually, my older ds has 2 weeks off -- the weeks of Oct. 8th and 15th. I work in a neighboring school system and only have the week of the 8th off.

No fall break here in Oregon.
Our kids start in September, have 2 weeks off for christmas, 1 week for spring break in March, then end in June.
