when is walking a resveration do the most good

I really dont know much about walking a resveration--bascially I dont know the ins and outs of it

my plan for next year is to book our home resort at the 11 month mark--then at 7 months I would like to change so we can try a different resort

would walking even help me--Im sure I have to wait till the 7 months opens--

so what comes after that--
or since I looking to change resorts just hope the resorts we want still have openings

Walking doesn't really do much at the 7 month window. An owner can step in front of you at any time.

If you can walk at the 7 month window, there is probably enough availability to just waitlist and that will work out just the same.

Walking is for 11 months for rare villas like AKV-value or club or for BWV-standard during the Fall.

Walking is really nothing more than booking something you want for dates before your actual date. It allows you to get a jump on the room in exchange for having to go in and modify it and walk it forward until you get your real dates.

It works when you are booking right at 11 months and can help with those really hard to get rooms or views. However, as mentioned, it does not always work for a 7 month booking because someone who owns can come in and block the walk. It has happened to me before.

Basically, say I want January 20 to 27th...my 7 month window opens June 20th...but I decided instead to change my trip on June 15th to January 15th to 23rd. Then in a few days, I move it to the real days.

Because someone who owns the resort is well within their window, they can jump in and book say the 26th at any time up until you get the room.

Walking works best when you're booking your home resort at 11 months. At 7 months, any gaps in availability leading up to and including your desired nights ruins a walk.
