I'm trying to buy ahead for DS#1 for next season, and I was wondering if I should start shopping now, or if the deals would be better if I waiting a month (or two). I know many of you guys shop ahead for your kids and I was hoping maybe you'd have some wisdom to pass along on how to get the best deals, you guys are all so savvy! :)

Between now & mid Feb. OP is right, they will maybe have a few more weeks of mark downs, then they'll start shipping the out if the stores.

Go shopping now, get what you feel is a good deal and wait on the ones that aren't low enough or aren't must haves. Watch closely over the next few weeks.

I was at Kohl's today and got a few boys short sleeve t-shirts for $3.30 ea - probably left overs from the fall. A lot of the winter clothes were marked down, But they weren't quite at my "stock up and store it price" yet.

A few years ago I had one day at Kohls where I found boys athletic pants marked down to $2 & $3 each. I bought one pair of every color-size combo they had for the next 5 sizes. I walked out of the store with three HUGE bags, and paid less than $100. Every time the oldest grows I just pulled out the next size. Got to the end of the sizes this year. But that one lucky day has literally saved me a thousand in clothing!

Yes now. I actually already bought a number of things for DD, 3, for next year at Kohl's and Gymboree. I always do that but this is probably the last year as it will become harder to guess the size.
