When is Jersey Week this year?

We have reservations for November 9 -16th and I am hoping that Jersey Week is the week before we go....

Thank you! That is what I was hoping to hear. When we went last - Nov 4-11, 2011 it was more crowded than when we usually go. I found out it was from Jersey Week. I just wasn't sure if it was the same week every year or not. So most likely the week we are going will be great. We went two or three other times that week and found it wonderful!!!!

We live in Burlington county. I have a 3rd grader and 5th grader. Every year we have had that whole week off. Suddenly, that's over! This Nov. they have half day tues and Thursday and fri off. I am NOT happy...

It's always been that way...If you get that whole week off, them you must be giving something els up in returnRight? Spring or Winter recess? Or Xmas break?

Each school district handles days off differently. We lived in one that also gave the whole week of the convention off. Due to the convention, there were already two days off, and then they kind of moved Veterans's Day into that week (if it was not already) so there were really only two more days to make up by starting promptly after Labor Day and/or extending the school year. So we didn't really give up another break for the week off, just a day or two here or there.

This is typically how our school district handles this week as well. Half day on Election Day & off on Th/Fri for the convention. If you want to travel that week, 2 1/2 days missed isn't that bad IMO.

I work in Nj schools and just as an FYI teacher convention is always the Thursday / Friday of the first full week of November. I think it is an awesome time to go! We went once and caught the last few days of food and wine and the first few days of mickeys christmas party!!

Teachers convention is always the Thursday and Friday the same week as Election Day. And Election Day is always the first Tuesday after the first Monday in Nov. Every school district decides what days to be off. Mine typically the students are of Election Day and thurs/fri with staff inservice on Election Day. My kids district has school mon tues but off wed through fri.

Forgot to add that during this time, the crowds are a modest 5 maybe, the weather is sheer perfection with low 80's and you get F & W as (pp) stated plus you get the Christmas decorations too. We did this 2 years in a row, and the 2nd time we caught Osbornes festival of lights, & man was that A M A Z I N G ! ! I think this years veterans day falls on the following Monday..

Just to clarify, the 2013 F&W festival ends 11/10, so the OP won't be catching much of the festival.

We did the week after Jersey week 3 years in a row. We always arrived on Thursday and stayed through the following week, so about 10 days, and we would usually not do much the first few days until the crowds thinned after Veterans Day weekend. That weekend (the weekend you arrive) is always busy b/c of Veterans Day, the end of F&W, and the end of Jersey week. You'll see a huge change in crowds even around the hotel from the 9th to the 11th. I will caution that F&W will be MOBBED on the last Saturday (9th), stay away. However, the 10th is the true last day of the festival and we have attended on that Sunday evening in the past and found it tolerable.

This year we went for Jersey week (to get away from the storm), and noticed the parks were appreciably more crowded than our usual trip the following week (though totally manageable). I call the week your going the "lost" Fall week because it's tucked between F&W and Thanksgiving and we found it to always be really quiet. I would say about 25 of the 30 days we spent there during that time in 2009/10/11 we had swimming weather, though we did have a few days in the low 60's. Ironically this past year we were there a week earlier (Jersey week) and had colder weather than we ever had later in November, with our last 2+ days being really atypical (low 50's and windy, cloudy).

We are going back this year in Mid-October so we experience F&W once and for all, but rest assured you are going at a GREAT time.

We were there this year from Tues-Sunday of jersey week. Crowds were light and slowly built each day till Saturday. Glad we did F&W on Wednesday....the only day Epcot had late MH. It was MOBBED on sat. Of course there was a marathon that weekend as well. Veterans Day was a Monday in 2012 so it is a Tuesday this year.

It was a bit crowded this year, but you had a bunch of things happening at the same time:
1) NJ teachers' convention
2) The last weekend of Food & Wine
3) The start of the Christmas lights/decorations
4) The half marathon
