I know it is open seasonally, so I'm assuming summer, but when exactly is is open? When we were there mid-end of April, it was open and had awesome food. We are now going Sep. 18-24th, is it going to be open then? (Hope so, but it would make trying to decide between there and Casey's much easier! :rotfl:)
That CS is definitely a tie for 1st place with Casey's, for sure! Side question: Can you get Casey's fries for a snack on the dining plan?

This is my favorite restaurant at Disney. Although I think part of it is based on its exclusivity. I have never been able to get a read on when Disney opens it. I have seen it open when Big Thunder is a walk on and I have seen it closed when there is a line at the Treehouse. Overall, I would guess that it will be closed in Sept.

I'd agree with PP I have seen it dead in the slowest period of the year and it is still open.

I don't know the answer to your question, but when we were there in October 2008 at about 10:30 one morning, I found a CM nearby and asked what time El Pirata would be open for lunch.

His answer: November.

(I decided that was too long to wait for lunch. :lmao:)

I have never seen this place open and have always wanted to eat there. I have been at the end of Nvember and it was closed.

BTW- hello fellow Wichitian! Aren't you just loving this heat?

On January 2nd, it was open when we were there. I am guessing it was open at least the week before that as well since that is the most crowded time of the year. When we went back on the 6th, it was closed.

We were there on a slow week between President's Day week and Spring Break (feb 28-mar 7) and I was surprised to see it open. I am hoping it is open for my next trip (sept 2 to 9) since it is free dining!

they've changed the menu - burritos instead of tacos, but you can still get the taco salad. It has been open a couple of times we were there in March, May and October. It was open in June this year and July - we ate there in June and noticed the menu change last week.

i was there may 6th-11th of this year and just happened to walk by at lunch one day and it was open - i loved it. i had been wanting to eat there for years. i was going to go back the next night for supper and it was closed! i don't know if it closed the next day or if it was only serving lunch when i was there, and no cm's i asked knew about it, so i consider myself lucky to have caught it at the right time.

I hope it is open too! We will be there exactly when you are :dance3:

We've been going to Disney for years and I've never seen it open! Not ONCE!!!

But the place right next to it (Pecos Bill) had a good taco salad. That's what I would have bought at El Pirata anyway!

EVERYthing I read about this place tells me it is only opened at lunch ONLY. Closes before 2pm and opens after 11am.

People seeing it closed-- are you seeing it closed during the hours of 11:30 to 2pm?

I would say you have a better chance than not of it being open in September b/c of the free dining promotion. It was definately open during super slow Labor Day week of '06 and '08 for lunches at least (we do TS at dinner). I don't remember last year if it was open or not.

The one I can never seem to catch is Tomorrowland Noodle station havn't seen it open in at least the last 5 years.

Yes, it was between those times.

WDWmagic.com reports....

"Everyones favorite "often-closed, seasonal restaurant", El Pirata Y el Perico Restaurante, will be opening for lunch during the free dine package period from August 15 to September 4 2010."

So it looks like for 3 weeks people can enjoy! I will be there Sept 2nd-7th. I finally get to try it.:cool1:

Be sure and check the time flyer when you enter the park. It will have the hours on it if it is open. It is a short window, sometimes 11:30-2. Most all of the offerings can be purchased at Peco's Bills, as they share a kitchen. The Taco salad and fixin's bar is AMAZING in the heat!

I had no clue I could order both at Peco's when it is open!
