When is a good time to go?

Hi All,
This is my first post and wasn't sure where to ask. DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary next year and are trying to figure out a good month to go. Basically February, October and November will be the only months that work b/c of our jobs. We have been in Jan, Feb and May before but never in the Fall. DH just wants to make sure he has some pool time. Any suggestions as to what month would be better? We don't have kids so no worries re pulling anyone out of school. We were also thinking Beach Club b/c it seems to possibly be in our budget but if not, back to our "home" at Pop! Any help is appreciated!

I love the fall - temps are comfortable, and I don't find the parks TOO crowded like in the summer/holiday times. Last year I went the 2nd week in Nov. and loved it! Once Veteran's Day weekend was over, the rest of the week was great - not too crowded and the weather was wonderful. Loved it so much we're going the same time this year (11/8-11/16)!!

February is a good time to go, as long as it's early in the month. Just beware that the Super Bowl is in Tampa in 2009 so that will bring up the crowds then.

October is a fun time with the Halloween party at MK and the Food & Wine Fest at Epcot. Crowds tend to be heavier around Columbus Day, though.

We were also thinking Beach Club b/c it seems to possibly be in our budget but if not, back to our "home" at Pop! Any help is appreciated!

The BC is a great place to stay, especially for adults. Both Epcot and Hollywood Studios are within walking/boat ride distance which is very convenient. Also the Boardwalk is right across the water with plenty of food, activities and night life (Jellyrolls in particular - a fun dueling piano bar). The Swan and Dolphin also offer some great restaurants.

If you could squeeze in late November, the Sunday after Thanksgiving for a week you will catch some great Disney Christmas stuff and very small crowds...Weather is still really nice around the 80's and pool time would be primo...

Also, for Budget purposes, why not explore a 2 bedroom/2bath condo at great resorts like Windsor Hills, Emerald Island, or even a two/three bedroom home with private heated pool for the week. Condos will be going for under $80/night if you shop a little and homes for under a $100 if you shop that time of the year...

i vote for nov. we went in oct and crowd levels weren't bad but we had record heat and humidity. for people from upstate ny we had a shock trying to cope with it.

If your DH wants pool time, I would go in October - great weather. Still warm, F&W plus MNSSHP. It is a winner!

We have been going for the last 11 years we leave the Friday before Halloween and come back the Sunday after - trip is for 10 days. The weather normally is low to mid 80s, little huimidity and nights are around 70-75. The Food & Wine is great and MNSSHP. Always stay at BCV or BW so the walk over to EPCOT is really convenient. We have seen them start the Christmas decorating the first week of November and the weather is still great. February you have to watch for the schools winter break - President's week.

I agree with kisobel....definitely November. We've been in early October and it's still crazy hot! If you aim for early November you may even still be able to catch the tail end of Food & Wine. If not, no matter, b/c the x-mas decorations will be up and the crowds will be lower.

Beach Club is one of DH and my favorites (in addition to the Poly). That's where we're staying when we go at the end of Oct this year. Short walk over to Epcot and a world of dining choices w/ World Showcase, Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin, etc. Plus the Boardwalk is beautiful at night....

Oh, and congrats on your first post! I also noticed you're from Pittsburgh --- Steelers fan, perhaps?

We LOVE October because of the Food and Wine festival and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, but we love November because you've got all of the Seasonal things beginning... It's a toss-up, but I'd choose October...

I have been in February. It is a wonderful time of the year to be in Florida and Disney.
With my current schedule the choices are March, June, early July, October, and Christmas/New Years.
I think October would be the least crowded of those.

But youre going to DISNEY. Any time you can get away is a good time to go IMHO.

If you want pool time, mid October is great. Its still pretty warm and you get the Halloween Party and Wine Fest. Crowds in early November are not bad, just don't go the week of Thanksgiving. If you want really pleasant weather, The first two weeks in December are my faves. Its a little cool in the morning and cool in the evening, but shirt sleeve weather all day. And IMHO, the very best part is the MVMCP!

Thanks for all the help. Turns out DH can probably get the week off in May (I much prefer then) so we are going to shoot for May - the week before Memorial Day. Now we just need to pick where to stay! I am leaning more towards BC but he isn't sure as we have never "explored" there. He is worried the pool may be too crowded where as at Pop you could choose from 3. He is trying to convice me to do value and use the extra $$$ towards dinner at Califorina Grill, Flying Fish and Spoodles.

Stormalong Bay is quite large. You probably won't have too much trouble finding a quiet spot. However, to the best of my knowledge, there is also a "quiet" pool at BC. Maybe that fact will help to sell BC to your DH.

I think any of those months would be great to go to WDW. February is a good time to get out of the cold Northeast and the crowd levels are lower at Disney early in the month. But then pool time is a bit of a gamble, as it might not be warm enough. I'd think October or November would be your best bet, especially since you haven't gone in the fall yet. It'll give you a good new experience. Maybe go for Halloween?
