I'm thinking of going during April for spring break or in May for Star Wars weekends

I haven't been to Disney during either time

I usually go during Halloween or during the food & wine festival

So I would like to try a different time of year

Just wondering which is better

If April Spring Break means the week before or after Easter... No No No

If it is another week in April, I'd lean that way.

I think May and October weather are similiar.

Spring break would be two weeks after Easter
If I go in May I would for the first weekend for Star Wars

Crowd wise, two weeks after Easter is better, and you'd have the flower and garden fest still going on.
But if you love Star Wars.....

What are the exact dates you are looking at? At least where I live, many schools break the first full week of April, which is when I think you are looking at. If so, then I would definitely do May.

Spring break gets more and more busy every year. The first 1/2 of May isn't usually super busy (although that depends on when Easter is, of course). The bonus of this time is that F&G show is still going on and SWW begins. For our upcoming trip, we're hitting both.

Crowds drop precipitously beginning with the monday following Easter Monday ... In 2016 that would be April 4th. I would expect much lower crowds for April 9 to the 16.
Spring break is mostly over by then and colleges aren't out for the summer yet. If it were me, being that I don't care about meeting star wars characters, I'd go in April (you also have a better shot at the weather being tolerable ....)

I would never go durning a school break time unless it was completely free.

But I would love to do a solo or just hubby and me for Star Wars weekend

May would be better lower crowds, nice weather, and Flower and Garden Show. We went Memorial Day week last year and thought it was going to be super crowded but it wast bad at all. First Star Wars weekend will be May 15th which wont be low crowds but not bad. Here is a crowd calendar for May http://www.easywdw.com/may15-v4.jpg

I just love May in FL. We have gone for the two weeks leading up to SWW and while the crowds tend to grow as it gets closer, we have been comfortable touring.

I hope you don't mind me posting a question within your question, but it's regarding April, when you're talking about going and October, when you have been before.

My husband and I are totally torn on when to go to WDW and thought someone might have an extra "Pro" for one of the two dates to help us decide! We are typically a one vacation a year family that is during the summer, so both of these times would be an "extra" trip.

October 9-14 (5 nts) - We'd love to go in the fall when the crowds are smaller (crowd calendars are showing 4-6), as well as cooler, MNSSHP would be lots of fun, oldest has a 4 day weekend, so he would only miss 2 days of school(which is okay because he is an A student). Our youngest will be 2 months shy of turning 3(so he would be free).

April - somewhere between arriving the 2nd- and leaving no later than the 11th (5 or 6 nts) - We honeymooned at WDW and have always wanted to go back then. Our anniversary is the 6th and my birthday is the 10th so we would be there during both of these dates. I'm thinking the crowds won't be quite as bad as normal since Easter is 2 weeks before this date, but I know it will be more crowded then during October, as well as pretty warm. Our youngest will be almost 3.5 and the oldest will miss no school because it's Spring Break.

As you can see, there are lots of good reasons for going during each time! I'm not sure if the youngest being 6 months older for going in April rather than October would make a difference as far as his enjoyment, etc to help decide.

Any thoughts would be great!!!

May weather: hot, humid, various showers

October weather: normally less humid, can be cool but normally still a little warm, rarely cold but possible, really no chance for rain.

It may depend on your child's height. It's possible the extra 6mo results in enough growth to experience more rides as a family.
