Where do you stop?
I know that some of you Canadian Disers' drive the entire 22hrs and don't stop. But I am looking for some nice hotels on i-75 for our trip down. Last year we took two nights on the way and it was real relaxing. We are planning on driving a little further on the first day as it is a Saturday. Last year we left at noon on a Friday. We stopped in Dry Ridge KY at the Hampton inn and it was really nice with an indoor pool. Then on our second night we stopped in Valdosta GA at the country inn and suites there and it is a new and lovely hotel with an indoor pool.
I have currently booked the Quality inn and suites at Sweetwater Tennessee, and the country inn and suites in Valdosta again. Are there any other places you could suggest say around the KY and TN border? THanks Kathy

Hi Kathy! :wave2: Exit 141 in Tennessee ... Comfort Inn. We stay here almost every drive home. It's about 10 miles south of the KY-TN border. They have a great continental breakie, especially on weekends. :thumbsup2

Hi. Hey Maryliz. How long of a trip would it be after that night. This is the first time that we are really pushing the driving on the way down, only a one night stop we hope. Darn no shopping:lmao: As long as we go through the mountains in the daytime. And is that Hotel in a large populated area? DD18 doesn't want to be out in the middle of no where at night.
Does anyone know the half way point to Disney, along the I-75?

We leave on the Friday night after dinner so the kids sleep then we stop the next night in Valdosta this way we get more than half the drive out of the way and get to WDW early the next day well early afternoon.

We also stayed at the Country Inn in Valdosta our last trip and that's probably where we will stay on our next trip. It was the nicest motel we've stayed in on our journey down I-75.

When driving South my family & I spends the 1st night at the Hampton Inn located in Cleveland, Tennessee off exit 27 & the next day instead of driving to Clearwater Beach, we stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Valdosta/Conference Center, GA located off exit 16.

Driving North back to Toronto the 1st night we stay at the Hampton Inn off exit 333 in Dalton, Georiga & the next night we stay at the Hampton Inn of exit 74 in Troy, Ohio.

In fact just 2 weeks ago we have made all our reservations at each of the locations for our drive down Interstate 75 this summer so we don't have to make them latter on & worry that one of them might be booked up when we wanted to make the reservations.

This is our first time driving and we are planning a more leisurley trip down. We leave around 3 pm on Thursday March 8 with our first stop at the Hampton Inn in Bowling Green OH. Then Friday night we plan to stop at the Hampton Inn in Caryville TN. And finally we stop at the Hampton in Tifton GA. We arrive at OKW on March 11!

On the way home we plan on just stopping for one night and we still need to decide the best place for that stop so any suggestions would be appreciated.

You're probably looking at 11 driving hours from that hotel to Orlando. We've often driven KY/TN in the nighttime, and the only time it really bothers me is if it is really foggy through TN. We leave from London ON and try to make it to either Sweetwater TN or Dalton GA that first night. the Comfort Inn at Exit 141 is the one we stay at coming home, so that we only have between 9-10 driving hours the next day. It IS in the middle of No-where! There's a Perkins at that exit if that helps sell it to your DD. :lmao: But not much else, 2 gas stations maybe and a Fireworks store. :rolleyes1

We drive from London and we stopped in Chattanooga Exit 5 and found there to be a good choice of hotels and restaurants at this stop. We stayed at the Sleep Inn. It is about 10 hours from Disney and 11 hours from home.

I highly recommend getting the Along I-75 book by Dave Hunter. It contains a Trip-Tik like map that tells you how far you have driven and that will give you an idea of how long it will take to get where. It also lists all the motels, restaurants and gas stations that are at each exit. Not to mention the great tidbits about all the different places you pass - great reading to make the trip a little more interesting.

Along with Daves A long Interstate 75 book, he also has come out with Along Florida's Interstates which includes all of Intertstate 75 in the state of Florida. Since his new book was released in 2006, the next copy Along Florida's Interstates won't be released until 2008. When I e-mailed him he said each book will now come out 2 years a part from each other. So the 15th edition of A long Interstate 75 won't be released until 2009.

Yeah I have the newest book, we just bought it the other day. Dave's brother is using our older copy(3yrs old) for his trip this week. It is our bible. We bought the fla interstates book too. It is good also. I just wanted some opinions on good hotels that others have stayed at. On the way home we usually stop in Corbin KY at the HI express and grab a kids suite. Thanks for all the responses. Kathy
