We are planning a trip sometime in the first couple of months of 2010 and we're wondering if anyone knows when Small World will open after they close it to take down all the holiday stuff? I'm guessing end of January--but we want to be sure it's open when we go.
Thanks!!!
:) Liz

In the past it took around one month for dl to take down the holiday overlay. It ends around january 3rd, 2010 and most likely it will be around early february for iasw to be back open. You can check mouseplanet.com website for the past closures of the dlr attractions.

You can check history and skip January 2008 when they kept IASW down for the whole of 2008 for a major refurb.

The official refurb dates will be posted on the DLR Calendar, but they only get posted about 6 weeks ahead of time:

FWIW, here are some previous dates when the IASWH overlay was removed:
(from MP's weekly DLR updates)

1/13/03 – 2/6/03
1/12/04 – 1/25/04
1/10/05 – 1/23/05
1/4/06 – 1/18/06
1/22/07 – 2/1/07
1/22/08 – 11/21/08 (major refurb)
1/5/09 – 2/5/09 (added new characters)

Hope this helps a little bit. :goodvibes

Thank you all so much--looks like we'll go for the 2nd week of February or later just to be sure.
We were there a few years ago on Feb 14--and since it was in the middle of a trip we forgot the date til we started seeing brides and grooms everywhere we looked--a very fun day to be there :)

I know how you feel! We are keeping our fingers crossed that IASW will be ready for us when we return on 01.20. The last time that we went it was down for the refurbishment. DD remebers the ride from her first trip at one and a half years old (she is three now) and keeps reminding to make sure that her ride is open next time!
